It’s early, but here are some of my early takes.

Rams had to release some high quality and very promising young players but then we knew that that was inevitable. Still stings, though, doesn’t it? Like a Mutha, really.

Perkins showed enough promise in preseason to have value as a possible #2 QB in 2022. And he just might make it. Some pretty shrewd Ram coaches felt his ‘22 potential value justified giving him a VERY valuable spot on the 53 here in ‘21 at the expense of another promising young player that would have been much more likely to contribute on the field this year. Obviously, they also feared that the risk of him being claimed was just too high. Gotta trust the coaches on this one.

I don’t care what McVay says in his presser. The Rams are gonna get a 4th RB from among the final cuts and it will happen rather quickly because that new RB must be quickly be brought up to speed. To pretend that 3 RB’s, including the oft-injured Hendy, is enough is just absurd. Bank it.

Carrying 10 OL? Seems excessive, but maybe they’re hedging their bets for ‘22 when so many players will retire? Another thing. Evans is NOT an NFL caliber OG. He’s had ample time to prove himself there and the results haven’t been pretty.

Don’t know about you, but that OLB group looks thin even when Obo goes to short term IR. Lewis simply can’t stay healthy. Hope Lawler clears waivers. Gulp…

I get the strategy with carrying only 4 CB’s due to 6 Safeties including the flexibility of Burgess and Reed. But still…

Snead put another feather in his cap with that Bojo trade at the last minute. Heck, bringing in Bojo to compete with Hekker was a brilliant move in the first place. I just LOVE having Snead as GM.

There’s gonna be a few tweaks to this roster still but one thing seems clear. This roster seems loaded and it’s easy to see why they’re in the SB conversation.

Great times to be a Ram fan, huh?

I’ve defended Evans and said I thought he would make the roster.
Now, when Shelton and what’s his name come of the injured list, we will see if Evans sticks.
His pass blocking has not improved but he can be a force run blocking.
We shall see......

The Jones injury was extra bad, he had no history of getting hurt. We absolutely need to grab another RB from another teams cuts.

My 30,000 foot view looks at the starters and then depth.

The Starters have 3 questionable spots. Center, ILB, 2nd Blocking TE and possibly 3rd CB.
Depth strength: WR, DT, S.
Depth weakness: CB, Oline, TE.

When I say questionable or weakness that can mean unproven. That doesn't mean guys cannot step up.

A final key factor is scheme:
1. How will our new defensive scheme do? Could be better or could be worse.
2. Can Mcvay evolve his scheme? Lots of predictability in his scheme. Teams have caught up to it to an extent. Some weaknesses such as WRs blocking linebackers create a schematic disadvantage.

The one unit that worries me the most ......CB  .

I have a feeling Kareem Hunt is going to be cut in Cleveland with who they have on the roster which makes him a prime target for us to pick him up.

I wouldn’t mind having him at all in our rotation and he’s a savvy talented vet still.

Kareem Hunt being cut is wishful thinking imo

Dude what are you smoking? The Browns were 3rd in rushing last year and Hunt had 1,200 yards and 11TDs. There's zero chance they cut him. And I doubt they trade him too because they have no one behind Chubb in that scenario. He's only $4.8M against the cap, and if they get rid of him they're still hit with $3M in dead money. Cut Kareem Hunt? Jesus lmao worst take ever.

I'm still hoping to hear we claimed Derrick Gore. He knows our verbiage, showed well this year in preseason, and I like his run style.

I would say OL just from the standpoint that they are not a dominant group, maybe solid, but the offense will hinge on them. If they play real well, then no excuse not being a top 2 seed and an NFCCG appearance.

Nick Chubb had 1067 yards and 12 TD’s?

Puff Puff pass man!
D’Ernest Johnson and Demetric Felton? I wouldn’t expect casual NFL fans to not know of them. They are cheap and young and save 9 Million vs Hunt making that RB room 4 deep.

I’m curious to see how this plays out for us.

Well, my guy Alaric Jackson made the team so I'm stoked. Still, I worry about ILB, CB depth and OL depth.
