When I posted about Robertson, I knew some trouble-maker ... some Agitator ... would post the Campbell-run.

Just never thought it would be you Loyal. Et Tu Loyal?
Can't help it. I lived near Houston at the time, and the Earlers were huge. I probably knew them as well as the Rams at the time and I followed them. Earl Campbell was my favorite runner of all time and ruined me when we got Dickerson. It seemed like Dickerson didn't try that hard because he floated and easily evaded defenders, while Campbell was the best power runner that I ever saw.. Because of my Dad's access to Oiler tickets, I saw many more Oiler games than Rams games in my life.....

That was the uniform for most of the 1960s through 1972. Robertson came into the League in 1971.

Rams almost always wore their white uniforms back then because most teams wore their dark/color jersey at home, which meant most road teams wore their white jersey. The Rams and Cowboys were pretty much the only teams to wear white at home. So, with few exceptions, they were in white most every game.
Thanks. Some how those stripes on the sleeves never caught my eye. I'm actually mad at myself for this.

They did during the Georgia years, drafting replacements. Brudzinski replaced Isiah Robertson because he wanted more money and then George Andrews replaced Brudzinski because Brudzinski wanted more money. Georgia did not start paying people until 1999 IMHO.
And even then she was a cheapskate letting London Fletcher go

Don't forget the Browns, they were actually the first team to always don the whites at home.

And I could never understand that
They won a ton of titles in the 50's so it was their calling card so to speak. Paul Brown, basic football even down to the Uniforms, very much like Penn State, which always drove me crazy too.

And Earl Campbell destroyed himself due to running over guys instead of around guys

Great short lived career because of that

Campbell was fast, too. I remember being amazed when he caught an edge on a defense near the line of scrimmage and he beat everyone to the endzone about 60 yards downfield. I couldn't believe a man that big and strong could beat a whole defense for a TD.

Rich Saul was a back-up for five full seasons before replacing long-time-veteran Ken Iman.

Saul started at Center for the next seven seasons, and did not miss a game. Named to the Pro Bowl six times. Disappointed when he retired and was replaced by Doug Smith, who was undrafted and had been a back-up for four seasons.

I was NOT confident in the Rams' new Center. I was VERY WRONG! Ten-year-starter and six more Pro Bowls.
