The Trade I have below shall be controversial. But, with a Superbowl win the Rams take one of the pieces and parlay it into 2 younger, less expensive players for the future.

OT Whitworth retires

Extend:

QB Matt Stafford

Restructure:

CB Jalen Ramsey
WR Cooper Kupp

Resign:

LB Travin Howard
LB Troy Reeder
OLB Von Miller
OT Joe Noteboom
C Brian Allen
WR Odell Beckham Jr
WR/RS Brandon Powell
K Matt Gay
QB John Wolford

Free Agency:

OG Mark Glowinski

With Austin Corbett signing elsewhere, Glowinski provides a replacement with slightly better run blocking skills than Pass Pro…. This should help in improving the Run game. His Cap hit will be between 6-8 Mil

CB Rasul Douglas

Rams get a boundary CB with size and length to pair with Ramsey. Cap hit should be in the 3-4 Mil range

Trades:
Rams trade OLB Leonard Floyd
Texans trade #37 (2nd rnd) & #80 (3rd rnd)

Rams trade #175 (5th rnd) & #210 (6th rnd)
Eagles trade #154

NFL Draft:

#37 (2ND RND) Edge / DL Travon Walker – Georgia 6’5” 275 lbs

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYhYSJRM20c

Walker is very powerful Edge / DL player. He was used in multiple spots on Georgia’s D-line. He is what the Rams need in order match the physicality of the 49ers’. He can be used as the OLB in base defense and then moved inside on passing downs allowing Terrell Lewis and/or Chris Garret to rush from the OLB spot. He needs to improve his get-off at the snap. That may be why he hasn’t been considered a first round edge rusher up this point.

#80 (3rd rnd) OT Braxton Jones - Southern Utah

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSrXXliMQw0

Jones comes from a small school but was invited to the Senior Bowl and showed that he belongs in the NFL. He is equally adept at Pass-Pro as he is a run blocker. I don’t recall him losing any reps during Senior Bowl practice. With Whitworth retiring and Noteboom projected to be the starting Left Tackle, Jones fills a void as the swing Tackle. And, with a season or two of development could take over as the starter at Left Tackle.

#104 (4th rnd) TE Austin Allen - Nebraska 6’8” 260 lbs

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jNKieun3bQ

Allen is a fluid athlete for his size. In addition to his pass catching and run ability, he is adept at blocking and could contribute his rookie year ; he will not need a season to develop like other TE’s on the roster.

#142 (4TH RND) CB Damarion Williams – Houston 5’10” 180 lbs

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvWBWxVt7Ns

Williams is above average in man coverage. He is also an aggressive, sure tackler. Per one scout, “he has the foot quickness, speed, fluidity, and pattern matching skills to play man coverage in the slot”. Williams had 9 PD’s in 2021.

#154 (5th rnd) S Kerby Joseph – Illinois 6’0” 200 lbs

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWuZqbACWm4

Joseph has good length and range for the position. Could be used in a single high if needed. He is also physical and has good ball skills. He had 5 INT’s and 2 PD’s in 2021. Rams trade up with Joseph still on the board in the 5th round.

#211 (6th rnd) WR / KR Britain Covey - Utah 5’8” 170 lbs

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31iCBMBr6PE

Pure kick returner….. will only find the field on offense if the Rams lost 2 or 3 receivers ahead of him.

#213 (6th rnd) LB Darian Butler - Arizona State 6’1” 225 lbs

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mxt0AAYx6w

Butler is good in coverage but not in the run game. He should be a core special teams player. He would be depth behind Travin Howard.

#236 (7TH rnd) RB Ty Chandler – North Carolina 6’0” 210 lbs

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9lgA8iS4psE

Chandler has a burst as he hits the LOS or open hole that I haven’t seen in any other RB this season. He also is adept at catching the ball and is a competent pass blocker. He think he os good value to offer depth the RB room.

#251 (7th rnd) DB Theo Jackson - Tennessee 6’1” 204 lbs

View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_NXbB_4cCsI

Jackson played a Slot/Safety hybrid position for the Vol’s and was highly productive in 2021 with 11 PD’s. He is also a physical, sure tackler. They called this their “Star” position which I guess would be similar to what Ramsey does for the Rams.

Projected starters:

11 personnel

QB Matt Stafford
RB Cam Akers
WR Cooper Kupp
WR Robert Woods
WR Odell Beckham Jr
TE Tyler Higbee
LOT Joe Noteboom
LG Mark Glowinski
C Brian Allen
RG David Edwards
ROT Rob Havenstein

12 personnel:

TE: Tyler Higbee, Austin Allen,
WR’s: Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods

Base Defense:

DE Ashawn Robinson, Aaron Donald
NT Greg Gaines
OLB’s Von Miller, Travon Walker
ILB’s Ernest Jones, Travin Howard
CB’s Jalen Ramsey, Rasul Douglas
Safeties Jordan Fuller, Taylor Rapp

Nickel package:

DE Aaron Donald, Travon Walker
NT Greg Gaines
OLB’s Von Miller, Terrel Lewis or Chris Garrett
ILB Travin Howard
CB’s Jalen Ramsey, Rasul Douglas, Damarion Williams
Safeties Jordan Fuller, Terrell Burgess

K Matt Gay
P Johnny Hekker
H Matt Orzech
RS Brandon Powel vs Britain Covey

I'd like addressing the Line and DB depth. I'm not sure why Houston would trade for a veteran instead of just picking the cheaper rookie at the same position though.
