Hate this pick so much with Xavier Restrepo and Nick Nash on the board. Mumpfield is small (5'11", 186 lbs.), has a history of dropped passes at Pitt, ran a slow forty.

Buuut, he's a Ram, and hopefully he knocks Cephus off the roster.
I agree sadly this looks like one that will not amount to anything unless he breaks out on special teams. He will have plenty of competition on this squad

I think we need special teams guys still which are very important to the team as a whole. And this guy looks to be a good and enthusiastic blocker.

It’s not as if every receiver Snead has drafted has turned out to be worth a second contract.

Unwavering trust is an odd proposition when even NFL GMs consider every pick a gamble.

I'm not suggesting "unwavering trust", but they've shown to be pretty good at drafting WRs lately. And even if you don't want to subscribe to that....a 7th round pick? I think we can have faith for a pick point that is extremely unlikely to hit regardless.

I really like the Konata Mumpfield pick.

The Rams are paper-thin at WR.

As long as Nacua, Adams, Atwell and Whittington stay healthy, the Rams are fine. However, there is zero depth. That's just four WRs; and the Rams went with seven wideouts (including Xavier Smith) for most of 2024.

Even counting Smith, who are the 5th and 6th WRs? I think this kid Mumpfield can be one of them.

Last week, Louis Riddick (a Pitt grad) tweeted some props for Mumpfield's skill set (route running, hands and position flex) and leadership (Team Captain). Riddick specifically mentioned Mumpfield as a fit for the Rams.

His tape isn't that impressive. He does make some nice jump catches in traffic.

I doubt he beats out Xavier Smith for a spot. Watch his college highlights, the guy was a stud.

People trippin on a 7th rounder like any of the options are beating out Tutu or Whitt. I think people are forgetting about Whitt but he stepped up when needed. I expect we see a bigger utilization from him

How was he picked over someone like Restrepo? I know it’s R7 but gotta admit I was underwhelmed.

Dont know much about him, but I happy to see progress. Instead of drafting an undersized WR in the 2nd round, we now pick them up in the 7th.

My guess is that the Rams’ FO has more intel on players, and more of an idea of what they are looking for, than those of us who just post on internet forums.

That’s just a hunch, though.
Sarcasm received.

Any insight on what Mumpfield brings to the table for the Rams that Restparo doesn’t?

He’s played a lot of football and perhaps didn’t do himself justice at the combine. His broad jump indicates he is explosive so will be interesting to see how he cuts

“Mumpfield didn't have the greatest showing at the NFL Combine when it came to his speed, running the 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds and the 10-yard split in 1.54 seconds, ranking fourth slowest and eighth slowest, respectively.

He did far better when it came to the jumps, with a vertical jump of 36 inches and a broad jump of 10 feet and four inches.

Mumpfield did excel during practices at the East-West Shrine Bowl in late January, helping his draft stock then”

It was said he pulled a hamstring while running it. Looking on the tape, he was so much better than Mumpfield. Only real issue is that he's a smaller slot receiver, but Danny Amendola is a good comparison, and it's a seventh round pick.
And yet, he went undrafted. If the issue was merely a pulled hamstring, why would it have scared off the entire draft?

Mumpfield does not have to 'beat out Smith' for a roster spot.

The Rams carried 7 WRs on their roster for much of last season. Barring injury, they currently have Nacua, Adams, Atwell and Whittington. That's only 4. Even with Smith and Mumpfield, there could be a spot open.

The Rams are talented at WR but are razor-thin.
