I think it’s a great selection, in a great spot, for a solid team, with a great staff.
I believe in everything that this franchise has become over the last 10 years. Sure, we miss on prospects and players, but McVay and Snead have been the best thing that ever happened to this franchise.
I agree with Merlin on this one. I do think that he has the opportunity to be an impact player immediately, but it may take a little time as well. The instincts he has paired with being light on his feet, allow him to make sure tackles. You can also see the IQ of a player based upon his routes he takes to ball carriers, and how he allows himself to read a play that develops. Paul does this well.
In my eyes, I feel like his biggest challenge will be to take on massive guards in the run game. But I also think that Spights will be atop the depth chart, and on the field for first down. I see a rangey, quick, instinctive linebacker that reminds me a little bit of Alec Ogletree.
I too, I’m excited to see this room develop.
