Actually 10…

5 for Training Camp / 5 for the NFC West… Let’s see yours! No rules, don’t need to do all 10.

CAMP THOUGHTS

Something I Feel Good About

The offensive line. The addition of Jonah Jackson slides Avila to center strengthening two positions on an already good offensive line.

The Concern I Have

As been said around here ad nauseam, linebacker depth… It feels like we’ll trade from another team’s depth, at some point before cut down.

A Prediction

Stetson Bennett plays well. Jimmy G continues to look weird in horns.

Something I am Rooting For

Jordan Whittington & Colby Parkinson. Depth at PASS CATCHER would sure feel good… another Puka surprise isn’t too much to ask for?

The Big Unknown, For Me

Our CB unit… 2 new starters… How do they look? If Tre'Davious White is healthy our CB room should be pretty solid.

THE NFC WEST

Something I Feel Good About

The Rams are the best team. :sunglasses:

The Concern I Have

Not sure I’m liking Marvin Harrison Jr to the Cardinals… he could become a nemesis.

A Prediction

The 49’ers are getting a lot of hype, overdue for key injuries, and primed for an off year. They close their current window with an epic implosion!

Something I am Rooting For

Black Ops 6 is scheduled for release on October 25, 2024… Just in time for the wheels to fall off Kyler Murray.

The Big Unknown, For Me

Are the Seattle Seahawks still in the NFCW? They are under the radar, a little.

Something I Feel Good About

Joshua Karty improves the kicking game & with the addition of Boston Scott returning kicks, transforms the special teams units overnight.

The Concern I Have

CB depth if Tre'Davious White is not ready, hopefully, Coby Durant rebounds, but Tomlinson has not shown much and everyone knows or let me put it this way, I do not believe they can count on Kendrick.

A Prediction

Omar Speights shows well in camp and preseason and makes the team improving the ILB linebacking depth.

Something I am Rooting For

Jordan Whittington is able to return punts and with Whittington & Scott the return game is actually a plus.

The Big Unknown, For Me

The Defensive Line and are they ready without one of the greatest of all time? Fiske, Brown & The Conductor will hopefully play beautiful music together, otherwise Rams are going to swimming upstream.

I will keep it to five as I believe the NFC West is going to be a dogfight and I do believe the Cardinals are much better because of their draft, but I am hoping for Kyler Murray now to fear Big Bad Bobby Brown.

I don't disagree, but don't forget we have DWill back in horns. That was a great signing IMO. I feel much better with him and JJ3 in the fold.

Corner was our offseason dice roll. Probably the biggest wildcard as groups go on the roster. Nothing would surprise me with them so the camp reports in how they perform in the scrimmages McVay uses to get them ready looms large for us.

Also secondary in general is the area of weakness for our new DC, but looking at the staff I think they are strongest there. So there looks to be some balance.

Defensive front meanwhile seems like it should be solid with the quality of the additions. But in sorting the division they will need to play at a certain threshold right out the gate. Rams probably will get stronger as the season goes on so a quick start is required if they want to challenge the shitters.

I think the Seahawks made the best offseason hire. He is a detailed leader who puts out consistently strong gameplans so I figure they will be an annoyance. Their weakness will be QB which limits them.

Cards got better but their OTs are iffy. For them to do shit requires them to improve protections and even then QB change may be required.

NFC West is going to be rough though. Probably no easy games.

I feel good about the offense. High level quarterback. Good receivers. Good running backs. Improved offensive line. Elite offensive mind running the show.

The overall defense is what I'm concerned about. Can be a nice blend of youth and experience. But how much is left in the tank with the experience? And how long will it take the youth to adapt to the caliber of play in the NFL?

I predict Stafford to be more efficient and reduce turnovers. And still make those wow factor throws we come to expect. I think he'll prove he's the best QB in the NFC.

I'm rooting for Kupp to stay healthy. I don't question his level of play. He's elite when he's healthy.

The unknown for me is how long it will take Verse and Fiske to learn the nuances of playing against much higher caliber opponents and more complex systems.

As far as the NFC West, I feel pretty good about our offense. It will carry the team in the early going if the defense needs time to gel.

The 49ers have to be considered the favorites until proven otherwise. They have arguably the best roster in the NFC. Maybe the whole league. But it doesn't come without a caveat. That roster is a year older. Kittle is 31 now. Deebo's already shown signs of decline. McCaffrey's at the age where heavily used backs start to decline. Trent Williams will be 36 in a couple weeks. He's had his share of injuries. Bosa had 7 less sacks than the year before. Who knows when Greenlaw will return. And if he'll be the same guy. These are the guys that make up the best roster in the league. Things could south in a hurry for this group.

If I'm a Seahawks fan, I'd be worried about coaching change. As much as they thought Carroll needed to go, they could also do worse. The ole be careful what you wish for. They have a journeyman middle of the pack quarterback. Their defense was not good last year. How much do they expect to improve?

Cardinals might be better than last year. But until Harrison proves he's worth the draft status, they have to be considered a bottom tier in the division type team. Kyler Murray can be exciting but once you contain him to the pocket he becomes a below average quarterback. And always an injury risk.

I’ll just say I really the Bobby Brown prediction,or hope for his success. My concerns is how BIG he is makes me scared of injury. He is looking smooth right now though & will open BunnaRams eyes in training camp.

Not a big Fan(over excited) of Jordan right out of the gate.At least as a WR,but interesting call as a PR guy.

Like the KARTY hype though as a rookie kicker.Plus Boston Scott was a real nice pick up & addition to the RB room as well as KR/PR guy.

Talked to a Seahawks Fan & he doesn’t even want to talk about them.He says it’s still baseball season dude.

I’m scared of the Hawks & unlike Oldschool, believe Geno Smith is legit. They have 2 of The Best Young RB’s in The NFL.Then add there 2 WR’s.
There problem was stopping the Run & now they have a NT/DT to go with Leonard who I really like from USC years back.He said he wasn’t sure if the coach as well.I asked if he didn’t like him & said he didn’t say that.He was concerned.Tried to called him out on a prediction.IMO the change is good & the talent is there.

But, I hate the Niners, therefore they will lose.
I love the Rams, therefore they'll be in the Super Bowl.

I think Brennan Jackson and Tyler Davis will give us some meaningful snaps behind Verse and Fiske. Our depth in the Front 7 looks better than this time last year.

Yeah I love Jackson's game. High intensity and physical as a rotational element can get you a ton of snaps. Not likely to get a ton of sacks but he has a good chance to be a fan favorite.

That’s the key word this year, DEPTH. We finally have very good depth. I only worry about ILB and corner. If we lose EJ, we either rely on Roze, Reeder, and unproven UFDAs in Speights and Fatukasi.

If we lose DWill and/or White, we have Durant, Kendrick and Tomlinson who are still largely unproven as average starters in the NFL.

I have to agree with Merlin there will be no gimmes in the NFCW. That said I've alwys felt the Niners will take a step back this year and I think they will. Also, let's see if Purdy can be a consistent performer season after season. IMO the Niners window is closing.

I think the OL is solid with good depth this year. I think Blake will be a solid addition in much the same way as Alaric was. That said I think Larson is just as raw coming in but has more talent than Jackson. Limmer and Leveston will provide good depth inside. This OL is built to win SBs.

The WRs are 5 deep. Kupp, Nacua, Robinson, Atwell, and Whittington. The Rams are legitimately 2 deep at RB with Williams and Corum. TE with the emergence of Allen and the addition of Parkinson they are set at TE with or without Higbee.

Defensively I think Verse and Fiske can be something special so along with Turner and Young this DL looks downright scary. Good depth at the edges with Jackson, Hoecht and Hampton. I think the Rams aren't worried about ILB as Jones will likely be flanked by Jackson. I expect the Rams to be in nickel a lot so they will only have two LBs on the field. Hoecht can move inside if needed. On the DL I expect Davis to bump Brown down the depth chart and probably off the team next year. IMO Davis is an upgrade.

On paper CB looks to be the issue but both Lake and Taylor have the speed and length to play as zone CBs if needed. I expect Lake to move to SCB in the nickel with JJ pairing with Curl at safety. Also, I think Durant will finally emerge in Shula's scheme. IMO Yeast isn't a lock to make the 53 roster and neither is Kendrick. I expect Taylor to emerge as another hybrid zone CB/safety in the manner of Lake and although Kinchens needs work on his technique he's a one year developmental player who should push for playing time in the late season. Both Kinchens and Taylor are the dark horses in this secondary. If they both emerge in TC this secondary will be very deep and both Kendrick and Yeast's roster spots will be questionable.

Overall I'm excited to see how this team comes out of the gate in September. I have no qualms about the offense, but as good as the defense will be they might take a few games to begin to jel as a unit in the secondary. Having a potential elite front will help them by buying them time to come together. This team can be scary good on both sides of the ball.

Jackson is a guy the old Pac 12 announcers are high on. His tape does not lie. He could be a huge surprise this season. I loved this pick.

Something I Feel Good About

I love our interior oline.
Those “not so flashy” moves are very flashy to me.
Our running game is improved and I fully expect Stafford to pick apart other defenses.

What I’m Most Curious About

I’m really looking forward to seeing our defense under Shula.
McVay didn’t hand him the job because they are tight.
McVay must trust him completely.

Life Without AD Will Be OK

Loosing a HOF player is never easy, but our Rams didn’t waste any time beefing up our dline.
I expect this position group to be solid at the least.

Something That Put Me At Ease

Drafting Karty.
I feel much better about our special teams knowing we have a potentialy solid player at the position.
Musical chairs at any position is tough to watch, but struggling with a Kicker is incredibly difficult.

My Only Real Concern

It’s always health.
We need to keep our best players healthy and on the field.

Agree with this entire post. But, specifically want to emphasize the part concerning Shula. He's waited patiently and paid his dues. It is his time to shine.

My (admittedly many) thoughts:

Something I Feel Good About:

I think we're all sleeping on this front seven pass-rush and just how good it can be. Not just the obvious four names (Kobie "The Conductor" Turner, Byron "Agent Zero" Young, Jared "The Last Verse" Verse, and Braden "The Kingpin" Fiske), but role players like Desjuan Johnson, Bobby Brown III, Brennan Jackson, Tyler Davis, Michael Hoecht, Nick Hampton, Ochaun Mathis, and seriously interesting undrafted linemen in David Olajiga (whom I think makes this team. That's what I'm going to call right now), Tuli Letuligasenoa, and Anthony Goodlow.

The Concern I Have:

Cornerback. It has to be cornerback. It has talent there. Tre'Davious White was a dominant player when healthy. Darious Williams was solid for us three years ago. Cobie Durant, Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson, Kendrick (bleh) all have shown flashes. We signed a lot of intriguing UDFAs. But I'm concerned about White not being healthy, D-Will being old. I'm terrified of running back Durant, Kendrick, and Tomlinson again, especially if THT hasn't cut down on his penalties, if Durant isn't healthy, if, like I assume will happen, Kendrick is a penalty prone hothead (to put it politely) again. We do not have the luxury of having bad cornerback play sink this season.

A Prediction:

Jordan Whittington wins the third receiver job midway through the season from Robinson, if not sooner, and proves to be a solid complementary player, if not better.

Something I Am Rooting For:

The light goes on for Evans, and we have three-headed monster at running back. Imagine K-Will, Corum, and Evans running behind our line with play-action to Kupp, Nacua, Whittington, Parkinson, and occasionally Davis Allen. Other teams simply can't stop that.

The Big Unknown:

Inside linebacker. We have Ernest Jones, and I hope we re-sign him, but I don't want Reeder starting on the inside again, and Rozeboom and Hummel are more special teams than anything. Maybe Speights becomes something? Who knows?

-

For the NFC West:

Something I Feel Good About:

The Whiners are not going to win this division. Not this year. We will not be bullied by them. And their window will completely shut after this year. McCaffery is another year older (and about where running backs fall off, especially with his usage, Kittle is in his thirties, Aiyuk - their best receiver - is not going to re-sign with them, and I don't think they'll get nearly as much in a trade as they think they will.

A Concern:

I think Seattle upgraded their coach when they got rid of Carroll. Quite simply, they're a very good up-and-coming team, and we will have issues if we don't take them very seriously. Sam Howell is a huge upgrade over Geno. They added good pieces to both lines. Their skill positions are solid. Quite simply, while I'm not afraid of any team, while I feel that we can beat anyone this year...I worry about the Hags.

A Prediction:

Geno Smith is dealt, and Howell becomes the starter. It's what I would do if I were Seatle.

Something I am Rooting for:

Aiyuk traded for peanuts, and the Whiners' window being fucked. Hard.

The Big Unknown:

The Cardinals. I don't think they completely upgraded their team with their first-round picks (honestly, if I'm starting a team, I'm picking Malik Nabors over MHJ. because the latter sounds like a diva in the making. And even as a proud Mizzou fan, I don't think Darius Robinson is going to translate his game well enough to the pros.), and I felt that they left a lot of better players on the board with their other picks. But you never know with teams in the bottom; that's where we were not too long ago.
