Losing their Center could be huge. Guess who plays 3T for the Rams? Normally it's the center and OG doubling on him.....
The Ram's o-line is completely different than the one they faced the first time. This version is far better. Also they are much improved this time around in the secondary as well. The Ram secondary right now is better than the one they rang up big points on in Aintville.
Turnovers and mistakes will be the only way I see the Niners winning that game. They are a good team for sure. But it's about matchups. The Ram secondary matches up well and the Ram d-line matches up well. The Ram offense IMO is better than the Aints because of the quality of the WR's. They will be in zone most of the time because of the depth of WR's, TE's and Gurley. So give Goff time and he's got the accuracy to destroy it.
As is the case in so many games it's going to be won or lost by the play of the 0-line and D-line. Win the LOS on both sides and win the game. A month ago I wouldn't feel so confident. But this O-line is coming together. Edwards and Blythe are the only real weak points. I expect the Niners to run multiple stunts against a young line. How well they adjust will be the key. The problem is Blythe has shown he struggles both at C and OG seeing the stunts. I would like to see McVay run more two back sets or at least play Brown on obvious passing downs, as he's a much better blocker than Gurley.
Overall I feel good about this game as long as they can stay healthy and eliminate mistakes.
Edwards will be a real good guard, he plays high a bit, but he is strong with good feet...he might be ok. He hasn't been dominated when matched up against good DTs.
I think the Rams defense does match up very well.
Dee Ford being out is huge (!)...it is said that he is out for 3 weeks, and Sherman out for 2 weeks....I think the rams can win. BUt I say this: Shanny is the best play designer in the NFL....and it ain't close. Jimm G is mediocre, so we can win, and in fact I kind of might expect it with 2 pro bowlers out on defense.
Also, 49ers are #22 against the run, so things might get better for us.
