My top three are S-Jax, Faulk, and Dickerson, in no particular order. S-Jax will forever be my favorite Ram. His heart and talrnt can never be questioned; just the talent around him.

If we go deeper than top 3 then I got to throw Lawrence McCutcheon in the conversation.
1. Erik Dickerson. The dude still holds the single season record. He had nothing at QB. I don't know that anyone will ever do what he did again in the modern league as defenses will change their structure to keep a single RB from killing them. What he did was simply amazing, you had to watch that shit in real time back in the day to truly understand it too IMO. One of my favorite players there's just nobody like ED.
2. Faulk. He changed the RB position forever, opening up the position in being a receiver down the field on routes that were reserved for other positions historically. That makes him arguably greater than even ED, but I just can't go that far because ED's my boy not to mention the quality of the team around him during the GSoT years.
3. Jackson. I never liked SJ. Still don't. But his body of work doesn't care about all that. IMO he got too top heavy in his latter half of his career and it killed his contact balance. Still the guy came to work and did his job on some terrible fucking teams through a lot of years. Few players grinded out a career like this guy did.
IMO Gurley would have knocked Jackson out of this if he'd been able to stay healthy. Bettis would be #3 too if he had stayed in horns but fuck Jerome Bettis (I know the Rams were the idiots but still the hard feelings are what they are).
Hopefully Akers ends up being our next great Rams RB. We've truly been blessed at that position.

I really wanted Gurley to be on there as I was a huge fan of his. I looked forward watching him play each week he was so exciting to watch. I wanted to see him kick ass in the SB and win a ring before he left us as well. His whole situation is a mystery to me and I really dislike the way it ended.
Since I didn't become a fan until a few years after SB36 I didn't get to witness the GSOT at the time so when I started watching the Rams (when it would actually air here in central MO) Jackson was the only bit of light in a very dark situation. I remember going to JC penny's with my parents when I was a kid and they had the Rams playing on there display TV screens. I stood there and watched Jackson run into a brick wall over and over again frustrating the heck out of me. I dont remember who they played but he eventually wore them down and got some nice runs in before winning a low scoring game. It was really something to me when the Rams won because I was so used to them losing all but maybe a handful of games each year. I never found him fun to watch but I have to respect what he was able to do during those times.
I didnt see ED and Faulk during their years but I've watched highlights and not a lot has to be said of either guy really. Both were very entertaining but if I had to pick one Faulk was a little more fun to watch to me.

Gurley was cute and all but doesn't hold a candle to Faulk.
It's hard to place an order of top Rams RBs as football is a team sport and each running backs had much different teams around them.

yeah almost forgot about him. we certainly have had many great backs. with cam or henderson on the horizon. run faster boys and don't look back cause no one is gaining on you
