I agree, IMHO, where your specialty lies that side of the ball should be solid, if not, better then most. The other side is all dependent on the Coordinator you hire. McDermott, who has been a good HC, could not get the Buffalo defense to make big stops in post season and in some cases, the regular season too.His D was awful in buffalo. So there's that
Yesisn't McDermott a pretty good d-cord?...
just asking
go rams

As a DC, his units ranked #12, #12 (in Philly), #28, #10, #2, #10, #6, #21 (in Carolina), as a HC his D's were #26, #2, #3, #14, #1, #6, #9, #17, #7 (in Buffalo). 17 years 10 top 10 D's including 6 of 9 in Buffalo. Not too shabby.His D was awful in buffalo. So there's that
I had CB4, LT2 and WR3 on my wish list. Fingers crossed Lampkin fills CB4 and Mumpfield/Daniels fills WR3.Cam Lampkin has been turning heads at camp. That is good news as the Rams need CB depth and Lamkin appears to be supplying that, which is great news for the secondary group.
Great call outs there, David Quessenberry is solid, he battles. Now he can get beat, but unlike Humphries, Quessenberry will continue to compete to the end of the whistle. Again, I would love to add a bonafide backup LT and Trost might show more as camp and preseason continues, however, IMO, that is where all of us are very concerned and for good reason.I had CB4, LT2 and WR3 on my wish list. So far so good. This is going about as well as we could have hoped. Both QBs starting hot in camp means it is unlikely they need to go outside for vet help. Keep stacking good days.
Based on what metric: yards or points?Yes

I think there is basically no scenario where Simpson enters the season QB2. I think Stetson can earn that spot with a great preseason, but if he struggles I think a Jimmy G return will be imminent. Especially since Brissett just re-upped with Arizona. Hell there might even be a scenario where Stetson has a great preseason and they trade him for a late round pick and still sign Jimmy. So far so good. I see it the same way. I'm not going to say Simpson has no chance at QB2 but I'm giving Stetson The 60/40 edge on it.I think there is basically no scenario where Simpson enters the season QB2. I think Ty has the tools (and resources) to be great one day, but I think they are going to have the training wheels on him for the entire season. He’s just so inexperienced and the ceiling for this team is so high. He’s still learning how to get in and out of the huddle. I think the fact he hasn’t gotten a single first team rep in any of the practices Stafford has missed is pretty telling.
I agree with all but the Jimmy G possibility.I think there is basically no scenario where Simpson enters the season QB2. Yeah Simpson not winning the backup job isn’t an indictment of him (or the Rams decision to draft him) at all. It has everything to do with the expectations for the team and the fact he’s competing against someone who has been in the system for 4 years. Stetson also started 3x the games in college. That stuff matters.I see it the same way. I'm not going to say Simpson has no chance at QB2 but I'm giving Stetson The 60/40 edge on it.
And as I've stated, ad nauseum, (LOL) Simpson being QB3 this year indicates zero negativity to me about him and the selection.
Simpson's strengths are his mechanics, which are exceptional for a rookie, and the fact he obviously impressed the Rams staff with his grasp of the game. So from there I don't have enough of the puzzle to say "he can be this or that in his rookie season." I think it is possible for him to win that QB2 job.I think there is basically no scenario where Simpson enters the season QB2.
