On the open market, sure. From the Rams? I hope not.
I'm not sure why he would accept significantly less from the Rams. There's not usually that big of a difference between Rams extensions and the open market prices. Besides, the amount Carter signed for is the extension price.

I didn't say he would/should accept less from the Rams. I was saying he'll get more money from some other team in free agency. One willing to overpay.

As far as the difference between the Rams offers and the open market, why did Miller go to Buffalo? Why did we lose Bobby Brown III, Michael Hoecht, Tyler Johnson, Demarcus Robinson, Christian Rozeboom, Cobie Durant, Tutu Atwell, Nick Hampton, Roger McCreary and Akhello Witherspoon? Because some team was willing to pay more or pay them at all.

I disagree. Other than Miller, the Rams didn't want any of those players back. None of them were significant pieces. I don't think they made offers on most of them.

Turner is a significant piece, so it's not comparable at all. We don't want Turner to hit free agency, so we will have to pay him right to extend him.

Yes he is. But he's not a 40 mil piece. And he won't get that from LA. I don't believe he's a 30 mil piece so I hope we don't overspend.

Fair enough. I agree that he's not a 40 mil piece. I had him projected at 30 - 35 mil before this Carter signing.

Getting overpaid is the quickest way off this Rams roster. And I like Kobie. So I hope they find an appropriate range he can live up to over the next few years. And if not, then let him walk in FA and take that comp pick.

These VOID year options are getting stupid.
