Oh I remember. I left the Herd board over that debate. I defended the Bradford pick just based on the position he played and it was worth the gamble. I got suspended for arguing with one of the admins who was a critic of the pick.

I thought I made good points that got him twisted in a pretzel trying to attack the selection of a QB. So the guy suspended me for 2 weeks. So I never want back after that. Looks like that site is slowly dying now anyway.
Bradford was 6'4, 224... but had wobbly knees. I'll never forget that pos Browns DL climbing on Bradford's back in 2014 pre-season, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Best way to keep Ty upright is to make sure that ANY time he's taking snaps on a field with an opposing team, that he's guarded by the FIRST STRING OL.

Not going to happen during preseason

I agreed with the pick at the time. If a quarterback grades out to be a possible franchise QB, you have to take him. Sure, it didn't work out. But the idea was correct. A great defensive lineman isn't gonna carry you to a championship. A great quarterback can. Aaron Donald didn't win a ring until Stafford arrived.

Yeah but I was okay with Bradford. We were so desperate for a QB that year.

Bradford was decent and he and Tavon were gelling when that fucking Chicago player purposely hit Bradford late that caused his knee injury. One of the reasons why I still hate Chicago.

However, I was all in on getting Luck if we didn't win one of those two games that year. We might have been able to trade Bradshaw for a first round pick.

Bradford got hurt against Carolina, not Chicago.

And that whole episode is a great example of how there's a fine line in critiquing one's team. Always gotta remember who you're rooting for, and sometimes check your ego at the door, certainly before you get to the point where you are rooting against your team.

Y'all might be confusing Chicago for Cleveland. Cleveland in the 2014 preseason, Jake Long was pushed into him, and he re-tore his ACL. At Carolina, Darian Stewart (former Ram, but I despise him now) made the dirty hit that knocked Bradford out for the year.

Absolute what-could-have-been. Bradford had all of the talent and mindset to be successful, he was the right pick at #1 because we desperately needed a quarterback (while 2011 had Cam Newton, the other quarterbacks were mostly backups or busts, there's no guarantee we would've had him, and we wouldn't have had Quinn), but his body let him down.

Cleveland was the SECOND Torn ACL for Bradford, in 14, 1st was Carolina in 13.

And it was Mike Mitchell, not Stewart.

Bradford was failed by his coaching staff and GM. He should have been a good quarterback. He had everything you want in a QB. He was just put in a situation that set him up for failure.

Luckily, Ty is coming into a situation that’s set up for success.
I don't know if the injury bug with his was a fluke or just his body sucks but I absolutely believe he was destroyed as a competent QB by going to the wrong situation.

I think he could have been an all-pro in the right offense.

I have always wondered why so many stick to physical attributes and success. So many NFL players who have the best physical traits fail in the NFL.

QB has always required more Brain than Brawn.......being 6'4" sure helps, but it's what's going on upstairs that typically makes or breaks a QB.
Simple explanation.

It's easier to see Brawn than Brain. The average fan is gonna struggle to decipher brain compared to brawn.
