Quick question. If Stafford is back in 27', like many expect, is that an "all in year", especially if they fall short this year?
If it is an "all in year", would you oppose trading a 1st & 2nd plus a #1 in 28', for the opportunity to draft maybe the 4th or 5th best QB in next years draft? Keep in mind, they currently only have 5 picks in next years draft. For an all in year, they would get zero help in the draft. Not to mention cap space would be eaten up by extensions.
So not sure how anyone can complain about burning one pick on Simpson vs burning multiple picks next year. And with only 5 picks next year, the need to trade back and add picks might be the best option.
BTW, I agree that if Stafford were to retire in 27', Simpson, who played in a pro style offense, who then sat and learned a year under Stafford, plus a 2nd offseason under this staff in this offense, would be much better than a rookie who would be forced onto the field 5 months after the draft.
