Waddle wants out of Miami as well now. He’s the one I’d be going after
With all the dead cap hits Miami is taking I cant see them trading him this year and taking another loss.
According to Sportrac, they'd take an 11.5 mill loss by trading him this year

What's the hit for next year? They're rebuilding anyway. They might wanna get out before he starts hitting them heavy on the cap.

On second thought though, can we afford to take on that cap hit if we want to sign the guys we have?

Its literally posted in the comment you replied to. Lol
They'd take on 23 mill of dead cap vs paying him 11.5 mill
They can move him in '27 or even cut him, and save the cap then
More importantly, why would they even move him at all? They just extended him. He's young, productive and on a reasonable contract. He's the player you dont mind paying

Hope he's healthier than he's been in years. Not sure what this means really. He might be just laughing at what experts keep pairing him to? Who knows.

By all accounts, Samuel Jr played well in the short time he got with the Steelers last year. I'm very interested. And he's a FA, so don't need to trade assets for him. He already thinks we are potentially SB winners, come join us son!

I saw it in that comment. By next year I was talking about 2027 lol. But I tried to edit my post before you answered. I don't think it's wise to take on more big money when we have our own guys to sign.

$78M just feels greedy. And yes I fully support capitalism and the market, but if you're a QB taking that much of your team's cap all you're doing is hurting yourself. It is effectively choosing money over playoff potency.

Mahomes probably got real comfortable with his team rolling the AFC and winning titles. But you can see now the after effect of that on their roster. Thing is rotten as hell and is going to require some intensive rebuild this offseason to get back on track.

There's always greed. Capitalism pushes for more and more but at some point that always trickles down and fucks over the average person in the form of shit costing way more hence the rise of ticket prices for these NFL games. At some point, having more than enough money to live several lifetimes over is beyond greedy in my opinion. Problem is, some of the NFL folks or athletes just have a problem with saving money in the long run or just living a modest lifestyle. Sorry went a bit off topic but ok, rant over hahaha

Yeah and in capitalism the correction is losing your ass in the market when your behaviors make you non-competitive. Which is what we saw happen in KC to some extent. Not fully blaming Mahomey there. But it's part of that no doubt.

Where I think it's a problem is that a QB should be thinking about winning titles over everything else. As a modern QB you can get a great payday and still allow your team to have a competitive advantage. Unless you're just getting too crazy with getting as much as you can. And I think at some point teams need to realize this as well.

Teams like Seattle winning it all, painful as it is to watch as a division rival, is good for the league in that regard.

To be fair, that’s not his fault. The team determines which years the guaranteed dollars are allocated to. When he signed the deal it was considered team friendly based on the qb market trajectory.
