I like the idea of adding a 1T. But then again there's gonna be 1Ts in this draft from early on that plug right in for us.
Ya I like this Hunter kid, I've done a couple mocks that drafted him, like this one: <note: I accidentally accepted a Bears trade for pick #38, gained by another trade, but it worked out great>
<I also really like the Slaughter kid, best pass blocking OC in the SEC>

Excellent Value but I don't know that those first four players are going to be available at those points.

I would love that draft. :thumbsup1:

Another mock. This one addresses needs, both immediate and future, while still using their highest pick on Simpson. This to me looks like a solid efficient draft. Addresses depth at WR, Edge, OT, OC, CB, DT, and LB. Also adds a gadget guy for offense & ST's.

Cannot debate this, it covers every need and if Simpson is that good, it would be even better. Two OL, one that can play both tackles and excelled as a pass blocker. Bernard is big and a sub 4.5 40, Heidenreich will be the new punt returner and nothing like having a Ball at DT. Plus @Coliseum Ram can preorder his Ty Simpson Jersey.

No thanks on Simpson. I want a player that helps this year for the Lombardi with the 1st pick.

Let's create a scenario that has both. Please note, this comment is by no means a post supporting the selection of Simpson (i'm fully against it). But just to play for S&Gs.

Trade back 4-13 spots to gain a day 2 pick. Then take Simpson with that farther back 1st rounder. Assuming he is what they think he is during TC and is the future QB1 post-Stafford, it opens up the 2027 1st round draft pick to be used on a 2026 TDL deal -- since we no longer need that pick for a 2027 draft QB. Thus enabling us to get that last remaining piece needed mid-season, using our 2027 1st rounded, to push us into the SB. Whether that's an Edge rusher, DL, LB, WR, OL whatever.

We'd also have three Day 2 picks for the 2026 draft to get some guys who can contribute.

Of course, the other side of that is: Simpson totally sucks in TC and has no chance to be a QB1. We blew the 2026 1st round pick and now need to spend future picks to get our post-stafford QB1.

I'm just not a fan of Simpson. Think he's overrated. Just my gut and opinion that he'll be average at best in the NFL.

Me too. I've said so...and said that i'm against drafting him.

But i also like to look at all sides and opinions of things. Because i'm wrong many times ;)

So in the unlikely scenario the Rams love him and he proves out to be a QB1 type talent in TC to take over next year. That would free up not just the 2027 1st rounder for a TDL improvement to the 2026 team. But also frees up cap space because you are not paying your QB1 $40-70M/year. So theoretically, you could add a vet in his prime like McDuffie to this team at TDL and his salary (or extension) without any worries. That improves the 2026 team more than a 1st round 2026 rookie.

Just one scenario that involves drafting Simpson in 1st that also can have a (delayed) 2026 team improvement. But again, i'm strongly against going that route....hahaha

I agree. Just for comparison purposes, Goff has way better stuff than Simpson and we know how Goff worked out.

Simpson will need a super team to get to the superbowl.
Maybe, but we are not getting the next Matt Stafford. The next Goff also is not likley walking through that door. So you have to ask if a better version of Brock Purdy is suitable since Simpson has been compared to him. I would say yes.

I am not really hoping for Simpson. It would be interesting. If they could do it after a couple of trade downs to add more picks. Then I might be on board since they could then add potential immediate help or key depth with those other top 100 picks gained in those trades.

If we can trade down and acquire another 2nd, I'd be on board with it for sure. With the additional 2nd we could still grab a quality WR.

I believe Simpson is considerably more mobile than Goff. But other than that, they do seem pretty similar.
I think Goff has a much better arm and accuracy than Simpson.

I would compare Simpson more to Purdy like PhillyRam stated above.

And with that, I would say Simpson is more injury prone with that comparison as well.

The one thing I really liked about Goff was his toughness and not being injury prone - broken thumb aside.
