If they hadn't rushed in to get Landman locked up they would be nicely positioned to add Lloyd now. Ah well. It's a nice ILB class so maybe we come out of the draft with an upgrade.

Landman does really well on the run and great on lateral short sprints when containing RB's running outside the tackles, and has a great nose for the football. He just can't keep up with fast TE's....... And he's a very good field general and is ready to play every game.

So I think he was worth the raise.

They could have let him play out his contract and saved the $7M cap hit for the next two years or whatever it is.

This draft has a lot of nice ILB options. There's an elite or damn near elite ILB on the market who is still available.

Also it is funny how the turnovers stopped after he got paid. Nothing against Landman but he's mediocre as fuck as a starting ILB. If Styles were to fall to us he would put Landman's ass squarely on the bench. Rodriguez same.

I certainly appreciate the player but I don't consider the extension to be good business in roster building. It's not a glaring mistake either, just another example that the Rams are not infallible with their cap. Far from it.

Have to think they'll draft one as well. Even if they don't get the QB1 they should be able to find a QB2 while hoping they get lucky.
Jake Browning pls. Would even take a resigning of JG if he doesn’t receive a competitive offer (<$10M with incentives).

I was hoping to see a Devon Lloyd pick up late last night, but no such luck. I think the Rams are probably done with R1 of FA agency. But I have hopes they may go after a solid LB in FA before all is said and done.
Lloyd was already picked up yesterday. Think Rodriguez would fill that need in the draft if we go that route.

Would it be Landman that sits the bench? I doubt it. He was a team captain last year. I think it would be Speights that sits.

The fumbles stopped because teams / players adjust, had nothing to do with the extension..... Example after Williams devastating fumble against the 49ers he didn't lose the ball the rest of the season.

Landman was a shot in the dark pickup and he turned out to be a very good player for the Rams and played all 20 games this season.... He earned his paycheck. And deserved an extension.... Maybe it was a bit larger than it should have been, but I'm glad he got one.... plus I have his jersey so I'm glad he will be a Rams for a few more seasons.

Lloyd got like 5m/year less then I expected. We could have potentially fit him in, however, we rarely pay LB's and we just paid one, so figured there was no shot at him.

On third down when there's one ILB on the field it would be Styles.
I suppose Lake is then wearing the green dot? I don't know any more about Styles other than what I've read here and a couple other articles. Would he be able to QB the defense?

Rams would figure out the green dot to have his oversized and rangy ass on that field every down. So Lake could do it, or maybe Styles would do it. No telling.

And there are other ILBs in this draft who would do that as well. Like this dude:

My thoughts exactly. $15m/yr for an all Pro LB would have put a nice cherry on top of the Rams 3026 defense.
