In fact besides our 2 new starters the CB room looks pretty empty. For me, the most important thing the Rams need is good depth at CB. I hope coach lake can get what we need out of Forbes.

Not surprised, he is serviceable depth but so far hasn't proven to be worth starter money. He'll be highly motivated this year now too.

His inconsistent play and position on the team pre-camp are worth about two.

McCreary was the guy I was hoping would be retained ... only got $1.25M from Detroit.
Durant got $4M from Dallas.
He's not worth $12m but he's worth more than McCreary and Durant. Neither of them were tied for 2nd in passes defensed.

Forbes is very meh and still gets bullied by physical WRs. I'd personally take Durant if they all costed the same. Honestly they are all serviceable at CB 3/4.
Both are cheap contracts, surprising that they didn't hold on to either or both of them.
Probably not. Corner is definitely a draft Priority next year along with WR. High Draft pick territory. Gotta get younger there.

Another good illustration of why its good we got our next FQ without a costly trade up, now we have all our picks and can just draft for need.
Still open to dealing next years 1st or 2nd if it nets us a WR who makes our Top 2 or a 2nd if it nets a CB3 for us.
Forbes is a good player now. I hope he sticks around for less than $12/M year if he has another solid year.
McCreary played a total of 38 snaps due to an injury but you're right ... he wasn't tied for 2nd in the NFL in PD
And, the point was Depth behind what the Rams currently have at Cornerback ... Not someone over Forbes
Right now, the Rams have McDuffie and Watson ... backed-up by Forbes and Wallace (played mostly inside). That's it. After that, it's 2025 practice squad players and undrafted rookie free agents.
A versatile veteran, like Roger McCreary, would have been a nice 4th or 5th CB, especially on a salary / cap hit that's barely above the League-minimum.

And that's why I really wanted a CB in the first 3 rounds. Our depth past our top 2 players is really lacking. Forbes is okay for a few plays but not the majority of the game at CB3.

Agree! I had thought that a larger outside press corner was a sure early day 1 or day 2 pick. I was 100% wrong.

Appears Rams feel comfortable with the above experienced CB room. Rams replaced 2 starters UFA's Durant/ Witherspoon from last seasons initial roster with McDuffie & Watson = That was a major upgrade.
Nickel- McCreary & Dime- Kendrick were later roster additions due to injuries of starters Lake & Witherspoon. Forbes & Wallace should easily replace both of their 2025 contributions = Improvement. Cam Lampkin was a standout in the 3 preseason gms I would look for him to stick. Rams gave UDFA Al'Zillion Hamilton $5 K signing bonus $5K guaranteed money to sign him.
Safety room remains intact from 2025! Addition of UDFA Nick Anderson.
