Arizona wants and needs OL but they don’t want to draft OL at #3

Thinking Think GIF by moving-in

I've seen him play and the stats don't lie, he wasn't good last year. Now before that, he was definitely a terror. I'm not going to pretend to ever know everything lol, but maybe he was playing thru a nagging injury or whatever. I don't know. honestly.

Lawrence wanted his contract re-done for more than a year.

At last year's training camp, several members of the local media referenced that he appeared out-of-shape.

His play reflected the above; and may have been a factor in the Giants not wanting to pay him top-DL-$.

Very possible. Likely even. I was listening to Dane Brugler and he said he has question marks about all of the tackles, and that even the best tackle prospect converted to guard would be behind Vega. So offensive line might not go high. There's only one qb. Edge all have concerns only one cb with no questions. Receiver might go just because of position value and talent.

Here’s a Fantasy Island proposal.
Send #13, Avila and Kyren Williams for #3

We get Love and draft OG Dunker in the 2nd and WR Fields in the 3rd
I would be fine with that one as well. Kyren probably has to go in any trade up for Love. I'm sure Lafleur loves Kyren. Also could be Corum instead. But trading Avila might leave us a little thin.

What is the worst case scenario for the Rams at 13?

Mendoza
Lemon
Tate
Tyson
Reese
Bailey
Styles
Downs
Bain
Love
Delane
Sadiq

is this the worst case top 12? Leaving a tackle as the best player available?

Is there a guy from this list of 12 that you would be even more disappointed “dropping” to us? I would think that if the board did fall this way, there may be a healthy market of teams trying to come up for first choice of tackles.

I think it is entirely possible that a wide receiver not on this list is the actual target anyway - Boston, Cooper, or KC.

Are there also scenarios where a guy like Love or Downs is on the board for us and we take a pass?

I’m not sure I see the case for trading up in the first round - I can see trading up in the second round - especially if don’t get a WR in the first.
I think you have Sadiq too high. I seriously doubt he goes top 12. I also can't see a OL going in that 12, I think teams love Fano for good reason. Cards are a big potential trade back team because they really need a RT and there are several of them, but taking one at 3 is kind of foolish.
Extremely possible. I think Lemon is the only chance at 13. Better chance all 3 are gone though.
Agree. I think its not likely we will miss out on the top 3 WR's. Far too many WR needy teams, but, the draft does have depth at WR, so perhaps a team is ok with getting one later.

Don't love fields myself. Also, doubt McVay is going to be on board with a rookie starting on the line, essentially site unseen, just to upgrade an already good RB core. I think the hopes for Love are more and more unlikely.

Suppose we miss out on Tate, Lemon, Sadiq, and Tyson at 13

Further suppose no one wants to trade up to 13 at all - we can’t find a buyer.

We go BPA and end up with a defensive player or maybe an offensive lineman.

Now it’s Friday and we are looking for a playmaker. Are we looking to come up in round 2? If so - how far and for who?

Cooper, Concepcion, and Boston all went round 1. Now what?

We draft the best run blocking pass catcher available, who is slowish and not explosive, but loves football?

I always enjoy the draft no matter where the Rams are at, but I have to admit my excitement this year at #13 has dwindled post NY/CIN trade.

My hope for a year one high level difference maker on offense is fading. Love was always a dream, Tate was probably always out of reach but now it’s all but a sure thing that Tyson will be gone, which will push Lemon up the board.

Rams will make it work and bring in solid talent but #13 looks like a bust in terms of elite offensive talent at this point. I need a hug.
Yep, it looks more and more like OL or Defense. I will be rooting for D. This offense wares down a D and if our D can be the take away machine it is shaping up to be, our offense is going to look a more explosive. A lot less 90 yard drives. So if I can't have Love, let's go impact D. But no short CBs

So…
cincy trades #10 and receives a DL who they will have to give a new lucrative contract.

Rams trade #29 and receive a CB who they gave a new lucrative contract.
Duffie is also 3 years younger (25 vs 28).

The difference between pick 29 and 10 is the equivalence of pick 28. The 3 extra picks the rams gave up is the equivalence of an early/mid (7-20) 3rd rounder. Added up, maybe the 20th pick in first round. So Rams gave up th value of the 20th pick for Duffie. Versus 10 for Dexter.

So to get this straight. They just gave up the 9th pick in the draft for a guy who seems to be gaining weight and showing declining skills and will be 29 years old next season? And he wants a larger multi-year contract.
OK.

And they probably won't have any trouble resigning him.
