I don't deny it. I don't doubt that there are other sources saying the opposite. Hell Peter Schrager just came out with a mock that has like 7 OT.

But you picked up a comment in the middle of a conversation and not sure you followed to where it started. All those comments were started by me saying the opinions of people around here, not on the web or in the draftnik community, but the comments around here had people talking down the OTs almost all of them. And we were discussing from that basis. I would love Fano or Mauigoa on the Rams but there are some who think they're only guards in spite of their game tape because of their arm length or other stuff. Just proves that opinions are all over the place. Same goes for WR, CB, QB etc etc etc
The point they made is of those 7 OTs, many of them might actually be OGs. And then the drop off to the rd 2 & rd 3 guys is big as well.

My point has been that OT is a legit trade target fir teams picking in the late teens & 20's, and a potential opportunity for the Rams to move back IF they don't decide to go OT themselves.

So I will stand by that.

And I was merely saying there are people who insist there are OT's that teams will want to trade up for while saying those OT"s aren't good enough for the Rams to draft even if we needed to. That's what I was replying to that hipocrisy.

The 13th overall pick could be a very good and useful player ... maybe not from Day One.

It would be the highest the Rams have selected a player in 10 years (Goff in 2016).

Hopefully, the Rams will add a couple useful, quality players in the 2nd and 3rd rounds (#61 & #93 overall).

After that, it's just late-Day-3 picks ... all in the 200s. Obviously, the Rams like to do trades.

Got me to think about the Rams 2nd and 3rd round draft choices in the Snead / McVay years.
23 players ... couple excellent selections ... few awful picks ... mostly average ... little above or below avg.

2017 ...
Gerald Everett ... Round 2 / pick #44
Cooper Kupp ... Rd 3 / #69
John Johnson ... Rd 3 / #91

2018 ...
Joseph Noteboom ... Rd 3 / #89

2019 ...
Taylor Rapp ... Rd 2 / #61
Darrell Henderson ... Rd 3 / #70
David Long ... Rd 3 / #79
Bobby Evans ... Rd 3 / #97

2020
Cam Akers ... Rd 2 / #52
Van Jefferson ... Rd 2 / #57
Terrell Lewis ... Rd 3 / #84
Terrell Burgess ... Rd 3 / #104

2021 ...
Tu Tu Atwell ... Rd 2 / #44
Ernest Jones ... Rd 3 / #103

2022 ...
Logan Bruss ... Rd 3 / #104

2023 ...
Steve Avila ... Rd 2 / #36
Byron Young ... Rd 3 / #77
Kobie Turner ... Rd 3 / #89

2024 ...
Braden Fiske ... Rd 2 / #39
Blake Corum ... Rd 3 / #83
Kam Kinchens ... Rd 3 / #99

2025 ... little early, in my opinion, to know what the Rams have with Ferguson and Stewart.

Reviewing the above helps me put things in perspective, and manage my personal expectations.
At #61, I am hoping for another Cooper Kupp (#69 in 2017).
At #93, I would be thrilled with another Kobie Turner (#89 in 2023).

But the selections could also be another Rapp (also a #61, and an OK starter) or Evans (#97) ... God Forbid!

If they don't do something about our special teams coverage and return teams I'm enough FREAK OUT.

This season. :)
Well they’ve already hired a new ST coach. Plus bringing in a ST free agent in Grant Stuard. I’m sure the new ST coach will get at least one late round draft pick for his ST group.

It almost seems to me that they are improving every year. 2022 is the exception with zero useful guys. Stewart and Ferg are going to prove that this year. This also shows exactly why I'd love to drop down a few spots and pick up another day 2 pick, we generally do well on them.

2018 - 2022 I would call pretty bad. 2017, 2023 & 2024 very good. 2025, who knows but there is reason for at least a little optimism.

This is all to besmirch the good name of one Bobby Evans!

2019 - Yeah, bleek
2020 - Not great, but better
2021 - I mean, they drafted a pro bowl MLB in the 3rd
2022 - I think injuries got the best of Bruss before he could even try, but also our least picks since 2018

I disagree somewhat on 2019

Taylor Rapp has had a decent career

Daryll Henderson was a good backup RB

David Long was okay

But holy hell did we do wrong in drafting Evans - Yikes

Yeah. The return specialist(s) cannot be ignored. If we roll out guys like Whittington, Rivers, Corum again…yuck.
No one on opposing ST’s are afraid of these guys to get a chunk, let alone break one.

One would think McVay would see the value of having a dynamic playmaker when changing possessions.
Plus-side Field position, momentum… with a small chance to score on a breakout.

I would love a return specialist.
And I'll never figure out why a good punt returner wouldn't make a good kick returner.
If you have the balls to catch a high punt with guys bearing down on you trying to take your head off, a kick return should seem easy.

I'd add that drafts are not exactly "good" or "bad" in a holistic sense. This years draft is considered bad at the top, pretty good at WR, IOL, TE and DE on day 2 and then pretty meh afterwards. If one believes that a draft like this only has 7 blue chip players then it would make sense to try to trade to maximize day 2 picks OR pick up draft picks next year. Of note, it seems widely reported that teams will be loath to give up picks for next year considering the strength teams believe that that draft will have.

I would say those are our biggest needs. Even tight end because we're running that jumbo 13 offense quite a lot. I can see this draft really strengthening our team.
Especially after that great free agency period we just went through.
