Would hate it. If we are taking a OL, I'd rather it was Fano who would essentially back up every position including center.
Mauigoa is better than Fano. Only question is does a Mauigoa stay at OT or move inside. But Fano has similar type questions. Between the two, I go FM > Fano every day. IMO.

Again Brown's a legit X wideout. Lemon's gonna play off the line in the NFL.

Interest in Brown does not make me think they're interested in Lemon. They may well be interested in Lemon, but interest in Brown makes it more likely they have their eyes on one of the Xs in this draft. Even if it's a project like Lane, who was Lemon's teammate at USC.
This is all true. However, the Rams have been sniffing around Lemon all off-season. Met with him at the combine, at his pro day, and they also have a top 30 visit scheduled in a couple of weeks. Could be a smokescreen, but that's a significant amount of attention.

I think McVay has proven he can design the offense to fit the talent available. So they will take the most talented kid available.
Yes. However he has also proven to not draft high enough to go get a true X wideout. And in this class there are a couple who may end up being on the board for him.

Also, he has proven to not take dudes who are talented but non-fits for We Not Me culture.

They're so damn sneaky that I don't try to read them based on things like visits. If they really love a player they could just as easily sneak around to the extent we'd never hear about the meetings.

Yeah it's hard to tell. They could easily be feeding into the hype to throw everyone off.

And while we need an X, Adams can play it for another year and I'm pretty sure that Lemon can play both slot and Z and will need to given the amount of motion we use.

If we take an X or take a slot or take a Z... we're probably shopping for a third receiver in a year again.

Not too surprising. Since 2017 Kupp and Nacua were major hits. So many of the other hits were acquired via FA or trade.

Jefferson, Atwell were 2nd rd reaches. Whittington and Mumpfield found roles but are low risk picks.

My point is I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t nervous about a WR pick at #13 (or TE and RB) just because the Rams track record at drafting skill guys in general on day 1 and 2 is sketchy.

I like Mauigoa better myself, but he is a RT/OG only. Fano is good and can swing to any position on the line we need IMO. That is extremely valuable IMO. I'm also not advocating drafting either.

WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?!? Expressing an even borderline positive opinion on a player means that you like that player above all others in the draft and think every other player is a talentless hack comparatively.

The alternative is also true.

I wish you weren't right.

But you're right.

They've taken a few risks in the 2nd on guys with obvious flaws but traits that could've made them successful. Picking at the top half of the first round means we're going to have shots at guys with less flaws and more traits. We're going to get a good player.

Arm length is a real concern with both those dudes. Fano is worse in that regard. But I figure both of them end up on the interior.

But that said I agree it's valuable that for year one we can try one of them at OT via the swing role, and then when FA hits use him to fill LG or RG depending on who they let walk in FA.

Still though it would bother me to take one of them over Ioane who is better for the Rams as a pure guard selection. Prob with Ioane is we know he can't masquerade as a swing OT for one season.

Honestly, what they do and plan out for the OL this offseason with the draft & player extensions is the most interesting thing to me for the Rams FO.

I am hoping they learned their lesson from the post 2021 SB season OL wise. The OL is like a good green lawn -- it needs attention and you need to feed it properly.

Well, they've only drafted 1 guy on day 1
As for day 2 picks, everyone says "trade back and pick up more picks", but the reality is when that happens who knows if the guy they were targeting was gone and they end settling for 2nd/3rd choices. That's the feeling I've gotten with some of the head scratcher day 2 picks. Felt like there was a guy taken a pick(s) ahead that was more highly regarded and then they draft someone *similar* who doesnt quite pan out
Later rounds they excel because they seem to land the guys they target
So for me, I want them to stay at 13 and get a guy they want, even if its deemed "too early"
They move back and I'll join you in the getting nervous spot

Y’know… I try to get interested in all this stuff but I just can’t until the draft actually happens. Then I’m really invested in looking at who is actually going to be a Ram. I don’t say that to rain on anyone’s parade. You guys like to talk draft and that’s great. I read what yawl say but just can’t get overly invested in it.
