I would not be surprised if Woods is the pick at #13.
There really aren’t a lot of spots to justify a #13 pick.
DL, WR, QB heir apparent.
Edge and OT are enticing, but they probably would not start.
Is ILB a need perceived by the Rams? If so, maybe that spot is in play.
It could be a hedge against Kobie Turner leaving in free agency next year.

I wouldn’t mind going Woods at 13 at all. But I’d be surprised if it happened.

Yeah I could see him as one of those BPA picks where he's the top guy on the Rams board so they take him.

But the drawback to Woods is if you take him at 13 you're gonna want to insert him at 3T. This means you move Fiske off that role he's best suited for. Which would be fine if that's what they want to do, as Fiske was a bit disappointing last season.

However what does it look like if they add another NT. And there's some NTs in this class. Example being they take MacDonald instead and he instantly locks up the middle which frees the others up to make plays. They could even slide down and still take NT with Lee Hunter or Christen Miller, who would also probably fit better with the room than a 3T.

But maybe they want 3T upgraded. And I would not blame them for that.

From what I heard about Lance, I'd take a shot at him mid rounds. He dominated at that level which is what you want to see when projecting out.
Not saying Lance is comparable but Kupp came from that level. Kupp dominated the FCS and he also dominated when EWU occasionally played FCS competition. Did NDSU play any FBS teams the past 2 years?

Not sure. Sadly this year (actually it's good news) I just haven't watched half as much of these prospects play either in the fall or now so I am going off a lot of highlights and the usual analysts. Nate Tice was talking him up.

First, to your point regarding a NT:
That is also a sensible approach. We saw how much of a difference Ford made last season and how painfully obvious it was when he missed time. Having someone else who can hold that spot down and help shut down the run game is helpful.

To your 3t point:
I noticed Fiske did not play as many snaps as I had expected last year. I don’t know if it was due to injury, ineffectiveness, or just design—the Rams rotated a lot on that defensive front last year. In any case, there should be plenty of snaps to go around.

Lastly, the signing of McD means one less fat contract to go around when the extension talks begin this year. The luxury the Rams have going into this draft is they can start preparing for the next wave of roster churning with those early picks.

I'd be shocked and surprised (not to mention disappointed). Do not need to take him at 13 if you want him. Dude had a bad season last year in college, that is scary to me. Very few pressures/hurries to me is telling that he is not likely to translate into a great pass rusher in the NFL. I'd rather take a gamble on Faulk, who actually showed some raw pass rush ability. I know its not apples to apples, but Faulk gives me hope. Woods less so. Woods is supposed to be a explosive penetrator, but did almost none of that last year.

There is a half dozen other guys (that should still be on the board) I'd prefer to take then Woods.

Fair enough. Everyone has players they like or dislike at this point.

Mainly, my point was that a DL is now certainly a consideration at #13.
If that’s the case, I’ll roll with whoever the Rams take.

Right on.

I will add that I think McDonald is good enough to put Ford on the bench day one. Which means if they take him then they have depth plus flexibility in the playoffs vs let's say the Eagles OL to load up an early downs run stuffer group if they want.

And Miller is really something too. May be higher on team boards in fact than the media has had him.
