I'll repeat what I said months ago. Calf raises can help prevent all these achilles injuries, and plantar injuries too. It's all connected. Load up on both the standing and sitting calf machine and do as many controlled reps as possible.
You are correct, but I am pretty sure NFL training staffs know this too...

The reason the NFL has this many *non contact* injuries is obviously steroids. I don't know how people cannot see it. Steroids are well known to increase the risk of injury to ligaments and tendons. The vast majority of these players are juiced out of their minds. I no longer am a bodybuilder, but I did dabble in it in my younger days. No way these guys are all that muscular, yet also that lean, without "help". So you have elite, top 1% athletes with tons of strength, power, and burst even in a natural state... then you juice them up to make them even more explosive yet weaken their ligaments at the same time... that's a lot of torque to put on a weakened ligament or tendon... no wonder they give out. Why do you think soccer, basketball, hockey, rugby etc. don't see anywhere near the same non contact injury rates? They also have elite athletes that sprint and cut, and in rugby's case, you have some really muscular and powerful/explosive dudes.

SMH.
We aren’t even on a team’s payroll but there were plenty here who wouldn’t even give this guy a look.

To be fair, not everyone payed attention to the Alexander saga we all lived through a long long time ago.
I took a lot of shit for not wanting anything to do with the guy. He's talented but you're likely dealing with these injuries throughout his career.

I saw an article that muscle workouts normally do not strengthen the tendons, there are specific workouts that are needed for that.
I wonder if the staff pushes these or not.
