But Sean McVay was on record for having Puka targeted because he had a specific plan for him, and look how that turned out.

So exactly as I said before, if a coach can utilize a players skill sets appropriately, they will produce. This comes back to coaching…and we have the best in the biz.
McVay targeted Puka - true.
But let’s be real, if he liked him so much and thought he’d be even a sliver of what is is now, there is no way we’d have waited until the 5th round to pick him.
It’s like how people give the pats so much credit for picking Brady - they liked him so much that they passed on him for 6th round (198 players). There’s a lot of luck and good fortune there years later post draft.

If the player has the goods. Before the Combine, did you have Sadiq pegged as a top 15 pick? Do you think he's as good as the recent top TE prospects (Brock Bowers, Tyler Warren, Kyle Pitts, Colston Loveland, etc.)?

McVay drafted Puka in the 5th round, no way any coach will know who's actually available in the 5th. That's more of a look, its a guy we saw as a good project still on the board type of a pick. Rams are on record saying they had no idea Puka was this good...... Agree on the coach being the best in the biz, but not necessarily sold on Sadiq the player, but hey that's just me. If we draft him and he pans out, I'm all for crow but he's overrated to me.

Weak rebuttal, Puka got drafted way late so much so that the Rams brass and fans didn't know he'd be this good. You're not even making an apples to apples comparison but thanks for playing lol.....TEs take time to come along. Ferguson did more than Sadiq and even he couldn't get on the field or have an impact right away. TE is a notoriously hard position to come in and do well right away, but we've been spoiled with some of the college ones recently.
Ferguson missed time in training camp which cost him.

Z Branch @ 4.42 is a little dissapointing Edit Ran 4.36 on 2nd pass, thats much closer to what you would think

Not a fan of Branch anyway.

Lots of 4.3 WR's

So tell me how he did in the college playoffs against better competition? Not great but hey, he's number 1 lol...... sorry but I believe there's just better players available at 13.
How he did in the college playoffs against better competition? He can't throw himself the ball.

You are too focused on stats.

Colston Loveland's stats during Michigan's Championship run

3 catches for 22 yards in the Conference Champion vs. Iowa
2 catches for 13 yards in the CFB Semi Final vs. Alabama
3 catches for 64 yards in the Championship vs. Washington

Well, no. You play the game. If Puka was projected a 6-7th rounder (according to his nfl draft profile, you take him in the 5th to make sure you get him. If Sadiq is a target and is projected in the 15-25 range, take him at 13…

15-25 range. 13 wouldn’t be too much of a stretch. I have him below Bowers, but above Warren/Loveland. But honestly I’m not really sure we will see a TE as good as Bowers coming out for awhile.

I honestly think his lesser production is more due to scheme than it is the player. Oregon utilized his blocking abilities more than his receiving abilities, which is fine. I think has the makings to be great. And that’s before the combine blow up.

I didn’t do much paying attention in the 2020 season/2021 draft, admittedly, so I don’t really know where I would have put Pitts in the conversation.

Green setting records, someone will overdraft this dude. I love the idea of him as a project.

Its just not a big need on D. We are super deep at safety, with at the very least above average players. Pure corner is whar would actually make a huge impact on defense. Even if we did say upgrade at Safety it wouldn't make near as big impact if we had a true #1 cb
Depends on the safety. If it's a guy like McNeil-Warren, who can play star, LB in a light box, and also deep safety, then you have a guy that never comes off the field and can play in variable looks on your defense. That makes it harder for the offense to dictate personal to the defense.

Lake, McCullough, and Wallace are all capable safeties.

I also think Curl is going to be overpaid. He's a good safety but no where near elite
I think the strong safety & CB draft class will depress the contracts a bit of these FA safeties/CBs.

The Rams need an overhaul of the entire DB room. Need some sticky, strong, physical dogs. IMO other than Lake we have 0 that fit that bill. Maybe McCreary can rise to that level with some help but didn’t see that in his limited time last year.
Kinchens?

I feel he's a small step away from being very very good.

Surprisingly Fields & Boston both dropping balls
Drops are the one thing I would not ding Boston on in these workouts.

And Fields was supposed to be faster. Boston probably did well not to run.
I'm a bit annoyed that Boston didn't run. With his size and catch radius the dude doesn't need to run a crazy time to be in play for us. Just be in that high 4.4 to low 4.5 range.
