The NFL is nothing compared to MLB players. Backup middle infielders make big dollars compared to most NFLers.
Its ridiculous. Cost a fortune to take a family to a game.
Also, MLB money is guaranteed.
You sign that contract, it is yours.
A friend of my sons signed a one year $5M deal with the Braves, blew his elbow out two games later....its his. As it should be.
Protects players from the inevitable injuries.

Well, the MLB does get away with paying players very cheaply their first 5 or 6 yrs until they hit arbitration. I know the Phillies have a few starting players who have been quality starters the last 4 yrs and they make less than $2M. Once they hit arbitration then that will jump up to maybe $6 or $7M... after that then you are talking $12-15M for an above avg player... $25-35M for a star player.
MLB doesn't have much of a middle class.
If you're not a high round pick you are starving until you hit arbitration.
Most players wash out before then.
So, most don't make squat, a tiny percentage are extremely wealthy and not much of a middle class, so to speak.

MLB has been dead to me for a few years, and the NFL is rapidly approaching my event horizon.
But that said, this is sad... some of these players (and their families) have been grinding baseball since t-ball & travel ball.

Two firsts round picks, a second and a third from a good team could end up being not-so-great depending on the drafts. Some drafts like last years are deep in first round picks, like this year. Some are very deep, like the 2024 draft.

Maybe they are holding out for a worse team to make a similar offer. Two first round picks from a team that is likely to be picking in the top ten would likely garner a better return.

It's possible. What i first thought was people here thinking we could get him for less than that.

Right, but that is part of Jerry's delusion.
We won't want to trade Parsons to a Conference Title competitor. Jerry thinks the Cowboys are Super Bowl bound every year.

Nah just ask the Jones boys they're title contenders
Well, long has passed the philosophy of Keeping up with the Joneses.

Yeah, my son used to work out with a local guy here in the Philly area named Lou Trivino, a pitcher who finally made it with A's about 6 yrs ago, had a few good years there.

Right before he was due to get a 2nd contract he was traded to the Yankees then he injured his arm. He bounced around some after that, and is now with his hometown Phillies in the minors. He did make money, but more in the 1-2M per year, but he got hurt before could have really cashed in.

If they want a shot at drafting another player at Parson’s level then trading with a playoff team reduces those chances.

Thats why I said earlier that Jerry would ask the Rams for Verse in a trade.

I certainly have no idea what is crawling-around in Jerry Jones' head; and I really don't expect a trade. However, if a deal was made, unless the return was absolutely Insane, my guess is that Jones would want Parsons Out of the NFC, and not with a high-profile team (Rams and Packers would qualify).

Yes. Cashing in on MLB isn’t easy. There are many more minor league players trying to climb that same ladder. Competition is stiff. Being a great AAA does not guarantee a long MLB career.

I have a friend whose son is in the Philly’s organization. Braden Fausnaught is his name and pitches for AA Reading. He’s got great potential as a 6’-3” lefty. He just blew out his elbow. He played a few years in a draft league. It hasn’t been an easy climb.

Vikings have said they are currently looking at veteran WRs to trade for due to injuries and looming suspensions. Watching Smith and Pressley these 1st 2 preseason games, do we really need Atwell? What if they called and asked about Tutu's availability. What do you think would be a reasonable trade that works out best for us? We know how Snead values picks now as compared to "fuck them picks". And there's the O'Connell connection. A 3rd would be too much probably, but could we get a 4th for him?

Charles Robinson said on his pod that part of Anthony Robinson getting passed over for Daniel Jones is that even in year three, his oline had to meet with him in training camp to talk to him about making sure his cadence was consistent so they wouldn't have false starts and consistent pockets.

Jeeeeeesus. This is football 101.
