Jaire Alexander (28) was really good but he has missed exactly half the Packers' games the past four seasons.

That's a lot.

I don't see him as a bargain signing. Right-or-wrong, someone will pay him.

I dont know what his contract was like but he's missed most of the season in 3 of the last 4 years. He has to be washed for GB to just cut him

If OTC is correct; and, if he's a post-June cut (assuming that's the case) the Packers get a robust $17M of 2025 cap relief, with only $7.5M of Dead-$ ... presumably more Dead-$ in 2026.

I would not anticipate a team putting-in a waiver-claim, and taking-on Alexander's current contract but there are some dopey and desperate teams out there; and, over half the League has more than $25M of cap space at the moment.

Makes for a more interesting June. See some free agents signings ... like Nick Chubb, with Houston.
Some bargains but a few may cash-in

Pretty sure Alexander doesnt go thru waivers because he's a vested vet? I always get confused when they do and when they dont have to pass

He's a dude who helps us if he is up when we hit the playoffs. Teams will try to add him I'd imagine. Just try to get him on a short term performance based contract.

.

Derek Carr said he didn’t want to undergo shoulder surgery to “just sit there and—it sounds crazy but—just take the Saints money.”

How refreshing is it to hear a player not just drain a team dry. I know he made a ton of money already but still, it would have been so easy going it the other way.

.
Well, he's also given him self some optionality to unretire for someone else at some point.

Yeah the one prob with Alexander is he is too much like Durant and Forbes. Where they have good coverage ability but suck at tackling. And in his case he gets hurt so much that you almost don't want him tackling, not to mention his heart isn't in it.

So I don't expect the Rams to chase him hard. But I do like the idea of him being in our secondary going into the playoffs. He could potentially change how we look, especially if he's healthy and all-in for that run.

No kidding. It can’t be long before tag and cornhole make it in. Embarrassing!
I think these guys promoting Flag Football play more Cornhole than you realize.
I will always remember and be grateful for those two huge-pressure field goals in a very-hostile setting in the 2018 NFC Championship Game ... 48-yards to force OT and 57-yards to win it.

Unfortunately, the missed 44-yard-FGA at the end of the 2019 game in Seattle was the difference in the Rams making and just missing the playoffs. That illustrated to me what made Zuerlein a very good but not an exceptional place-kicker ... as strong a leg as you could want but he was far from automatic inside the 45.
Zuerline was pretty dynamic for us during his tenure. A few misses really hurt, no doubt, though.

Fans have been pretty spoiled by the exponential leap in efficiency since the early days of football (This subject may deserve its own thread) of two positions: Quarterback and kicker.

Back in the 60's '70's and even '80's (When @Merlin could still get it up) kickers routinely missed extra points, and anything over 40 yards was a "long" field goal. It was pretty pathetic.

I remember Frank Corrall missing 38 yarders, and getting high-fived by teammates as he walked his fat ass back to the sidelines. He was as bad as the Niners CURRENT kicker!

Now if a guy misses more than a couple of kicks under 50 yards, the fans boo him, and the team bring in competition the next week.

Little known Cloris Leachman fact ... her senior prom date was ROD's own ... @Loyal.
I will defend @Loyal honor with this besmirchment. He would NEVER have dated a pre-teen girl!
There is a man named "Taint" ?
Might as well name your kid Labia.
My son, Sphincter takes great offense to this.

Rams had some brutal Place-Kickers back-in-the-day.

David Ray was pretty good for the time but those three misses in Dallas in the 1973 Divisional Round hurt.

Then there was Tom Dempsey ... UGH! ... highlighted by that blocked-FGA (extra-point distance) in Minnesota in the 1976 NFC Championship Game that was returned for a 90-yard-TD.

Rams finally found a good one in 1977 with Rafael Septien, only to change-over to Frank Corral in 1978; while Septien kicked well for the hated Cowboys for about eight seasons.

Fortunately, Mike Lansford came on-board in 1982 and lasted nine seasons. Praise Jesus!

Yes, Good ol' Dempsey, with his straight on style. Couldn't criticize him, though for fear of the backlash from stub-shaming.

I liked Lansford, too. Maybe the first kicker I felt like I could trust. But with the barefoot, his range was a bit limited it seems. Not much beyond 50. We are pretty spoiled these days, truth be told.

I actually think Lansford went barefoot, just to prove he wasn't some stubby, footless freak like Dempsey! :hiding:

Then Septein got busted for being a pedophile while in Dallas. I always wondered if the Rams knew he had issues because it was a surprise when they moved him.
