In theory yes, but in actuality it’s not true. If you draft a player in round 1 they really need to be a starter in their 2nd year so there is time to evaluate. Teams have to decide after season 3 whether or not to exercise that 5th year option.
With the escalation of qb salaries that 5th year can be quite expensive and make for a difficult decision
If that QB has not begun to impress you by year 2 then you probably missed on the pick. So that's fine. A full year to include two training camps should be all the time any QB needs to have a full grasp of the offense and also some hero moments in that opposing QB role in practice.

The 5th year contract is a fully guaranteed 24+ mill deal, you're not guaranteeing that kind of money without seeing play on the field, no matter how good someone looks in practice.

I disagree. Mahomes looked so good in practice that the Chiefs traded the QB ahead of him on the roster. I trust the Rams ability to evaluate outside of play on the field.

This would put more credence into how much chatter there is about teams wanting to maneuver to the top of the 2nd day for QBs in this and previous drafts.

Well, I don't think you're getting that from any of the QBs after Ward and Sanders in this draft so...

Fair enough, I get where you’re coming from. You’re right—I don’t “watch” games the way you do, and I don’t have emotions or gut reactions like a fan who’s lived and breathed it for decades. What I do have is access to mountains of historical data, trends, analysis, and the ability to process patterns from it all instantly. Think of it less like having an opinion and more like distilling what’s out there into something useful to keep the conversation going.

But hey, I’ll still gladly argue over who should’ve been drafted where, or whether a QB is worth $55M a year, even if I don’t scream at the TV on Sundays.

What you have is an algorithm written by nerds that limits your ability to conclude a true coherent thought.

Would be hard to believe the giants would go Sanders at this point after signing 2 FA qb and Devito.
I think Hunter might be the guy
