Daniel Jeremiah Ranks Best Prospects Available for 2025 NFL Draft Day 2 After Round 1​

The first round of the 2025 NFL draft is over, and it contained some surprising and/or eye-popping moments.

Examples include the Jacksonville Jaguars trading up from No. 5 to No. 2 to take Colorado two-way superstar Travis Hunter, the Green Bay Packers (finally) taking a first-round wide receiver in Texas' Matthew Golden and the New York Giants trading up from No. 34 to No. 25 to select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart.

There were also some notable omissions in the first round. On offense, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders didn't get selected. On defense, a host of talents were left waiting, including Michigan cornerback Will Johnson, South Carolina safety Nick Emmanwori and Marshall edge-rusher Mike Green.

With that in mind, here's a look at the best-available prospects remaining per NFL Network's Daniel Jeremiah, who listed the players left from his final 150-player big board.

Two names in particular stand out in Sanders and Johnson.

Sanders was once talked about in the same breath as Miami's Cam Ward very early on in the draft process before Ward pulled away and became the unquestioned QB1. But then the thought was that Sanders would still go early, perhaps to the Cleveland Browns at No. 2 or the New York Giants at No. 3.

Then the narrative became that Sanders would fall out of the top three while Cleveland and New York would target blue chip prospects instead (two-way star Travis Hunter and edge-rusher Abdul Carter). The Browns ended up trading their pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars, who took Hunter. The Giants selected Carter.

The possibility reigned that the New Orleans Saints could take Sanders at No. 9, or perhaps the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 21. That came and went. Of course, a team could hypothetically trade up from the top of the second round and take Sanders.

One team did trade up (the Giants), but they did so for Ole Miss signal-caller Jaxson Dart. That leaves Sanders waiting for his next team after one day.

Another massive surprise was the fall of Michigan cornerback Will Johnson. ESPN's Adam Schefter spoke more on the matter, which appears to be an injury concern.

Johnson ranked No. 5 overall on the final B/R NFL Scouting Department big board. He was held to six games in 2024 due to a turf toe ailment but starred for the undefeated national champions in 2023, earning CFB National Championship Game Defensive MVP, First-Team All-American and First-Team All-Big Ten honors along the way.

His situation is certainly unfortunate. Without the reported knee issue, one can surmise that Johnson wouldn't be waiting long at all to hear his name. Hopefully a team takes a chance on him soon and that concern clears up for him to realize his pro potential.

Do we fill that big CB need? Maybe take a shot on a TE with some pass game upside? Go get a slot impact piece? Hell maybe even address ILB in a higher round for the first time since probably Laurinaitis. Goin off memory here of course which is quite poor nowadays. :laugh3:

What bugs me about McCord is the dude has no shoulders. I know, weird complaint. But when I was watching the combine shit I couldn't un-see it. Dude is all head. :laugh3:
