That walk off grand slam will always be remembered by Dodger fans. Iconic. Although I wouldn't quite put it on the same level as Gibson's. The Yankees were not heavily favored like the A's were. Eckersley was the best closer in the game. It felt like a prize fighter who got his bell rung and never recovered. Didn't help that the next game the A's had to face the hottest pitcher in the league.

I will rank the Freeman moment as a close second to the best moments I've ever watched as a Dodger fan. I wish I could post a picture of my personalized Dodger jersey number 34 with my last name on the back. For some reason I can find it in my pictures but when I try to post it the picture isn't there. I had that number as a softball player for over 30 years as a tribute to Fernando. Wore it every game this postseason. I suppose now I can wash it. :laugh4:

You may want to try saving it or copying it to another folder and then browsing to that folder. Hopefully you get what I'm saying.

Well, I was right, in a way. Five games. I just guessed the wrong team.

Congrats to the Dodgers. You still have three WSs to go to tie us...but congrats on your eighth.

Nice retort! :laugh2:Second fiddle? We haven't finished behind the Red Sox in 6 years!! Since 1921, their whole existence has been second fiddle to the Yankees with some random exceptions. The Yankees and Yankee fans don't fear the Red Sox, they feed off them. Why do they keep trading away stars like Mookie? Because it's too expensive to play second fiddle to NY.

This ends for both teams over the next week or so. The Dodgers got by the Mets and Padres. Overcame Lindor and Tatis, Jr.. Great job to get to the World Series, despite being short handed on the mound. It doesn't happen a third time. To quote that great Cali band, "somebody's gonna hurt someone, there's nothing we can do" and that somebody is the Yankees.
Yeah someone definitely hurt someone and that somebody WAS NOT The Yankees.....

How wrong I was, eh? Your pitching came through. Our defense let us down, as did our offense. Hey, I've got a good idea.....let's do it again next year!

Long way to go. Glad you are so sure about that.
Honestly Yankees were a very very flawed team. Out of SD, NYM and NYY, the Yankees were the worst of the 3.

Hope they do make it back for a rematch in '25.

The Yankees are the only AL team of the 3.
They can make it back.

There’s no doubt that the Dodgers, Padres and Mets were the best teams.
The road back is going to be a tough one for the Dodgers.
We’re up for the task.

In what way? Please explain.

But if that's the case, your prediction about the Dodgers returning to the World Series in 2025 might be a bit premature. Maybe you ought to hope they simply return as NL West Champs?

Did you watch the series???? Obviously not if you are asking why the Yankees are a flawed team....

So you don't really have anything to base that on, compared to the Mets or Padres, except the Yankees lost the World Series? The Mets and Padres didn't make it there.

The Mets were terrible most of the year (12.5 GB, 3 games over .500 at the break) but got a little hot at the end (40-27 after the break). Talk about "flawed". Their best starter had 12 wins.

Cleveland had the best bullpen in baseball.....12 losses by their bullpen and the Yankees beat their bullpen twice, in 5 games. I kept hearing about Cleveland's "4 horseman bullpen" (Clase, Gaddis, Smith and Herrin). The "untouchable" Emanuel Clase had a 10.13 ERA (4 R in 2.1 IP, 2 HR), Gaddis had a 8.10 ERA (6 R, 3 ER in 3.1 IP, 2 HR) and Cade Smith had a 7.36 ERA (3 R in 3.2 IP, 1 HR). Collectively they gave up 5 HRs in 9.1 IP after allowing 7 all season in 224.1 IP!!! (Clase 2, Smith 1, Gaddis 4)

Kansas City had the 8th best ERA in MLB but could muster just 1 win.

Flaws? Sure, they made baserunning mistakes all season. They went into funks in the second half. They switched closers in August. And they still won 94 games and two post season series, not to mention finishing ahead of everybody's darling, the Baltimore Orioles.

But I guess the Dodgers are going to make it back to the World Series because they've done it so many times under Roberts (1)? A team who has won their division 8 of the last 9 years, has won 100 games 5 times and 1 World Series prior to this year (in the covid season) yet there was talk if they didn't get past the NLDS Roberts might be gone. And they were down 2-1 until the Padres forgot how to hit. Yeah if I was a Dodgers fan, I'd be convinced they were going to be back next year.

Man what a sour grapes Yankee fan. You talked all that crap before the series.

Yes the Yankees are flawed.

Their defense sux, they cant run the bases, and they are not very deep and that cost them. They are lucky they faced 2 AL Central teams....

Ill take the Dodgers all day in 25 vs the Yanks...
