Any well respected proven HC candidate would pass on working for a meddling owner like Tepper. That franchise is doomed for failure until a new owner takes control. Until then, it's not gonna surprise me to see the Panthers hire HCs that real NFL franchises would never hire.
Some owners learn, Jed York unfortunately has gotten it right, however, Tepper has to understand he is not the smartest guy in the room, unless there is a room of one.

He still might actually be the smartest man in the room... but he doesn't know shit about football compared to the professionals.

Fortunately for owners like him... there are only 32 HCing jobs in The League. Because of that, he will be able to find a boatload of people who would love to have the one he is hiring for. The problem is... the most qualified candidates won't be willing to take his.

So sometimes even meddling owners are able to find a needle in the haystack.

I think in Tepper's mind he followed a good template in hiring an offensive coach and then drafting the "consensus" QB1 in the draft. But he has two problems here in that first the consensus QB1 was groupthink nonsense, an emperor not having clothes type scenario in that he is very slight and undersized and likely to be a system or game manager type QB at this level of ball, thus they overdrafted him. Which does not mean he will fail, but rather that they spent major resources to move up for a guy with a ton of risk. And secondly his problem lies in that he didn't foresee that starting a rookie QB can result in a shit win/loss record.

Both of those errors on Tepper's part shows me that he doesn't know fuck all about football. Because look no further than the Cowboys taking Aikman and going 1-15 before making their jump year two in Johnson's program. History demonstrates all the lessons you need to know in that regard, in that you cannot count on making the playoffs with a rookie QB, in fact it's almost astronomically unlikely.

I think a lot of Young, in terms of who he is as a person. But it's not fair to him to take him that high either. He's not going to single handedly win you 15 games or whatever Tepper was expecting. He is going to need to grow and as you build around him if you add great pieces he might be able to lead a contender. Statistically, though, even with high picked QBs that is quite unlikely, it's tough to hit on these guys. So we'll see but I feel sorry for Young being under that owner because he's an impatient prick with zero vision or background knowledge of the game so his decision making is going to be shit.

If Tepper pushed to draft Bryce Young, then pushed the GM, HC,and OC to start him ahead of Dalton before he was ready, and then didn't give the HC enough time to develop the QB, he is the one that needs to get fired.

could Pete Carroll find himself on the hot seat of Seattle misses the playoffs this year?

You'd think. Pete hasn't threatened to do shit since McVay and Shanny moved in.

eeeeeeh... like you say, there are only 32 of those jobs. They'll have good choices. Just not the top 3 this cycle.

So I read something that I cannot verify, but it’s about coaching, so I’ll throw it out here anyway.

TIFWIW:
Mark Davis supposedly would welcome Gruden back as the head coach, depending on how his lawsuit vs the NFL goes.

Here is another:

Raiders former GM Dave Ziegler supposedly loved CJ Stroud and wanted to do whatever it took to get him in the 2023 draft. He saw Stroud as a generational talent.

But, Josh McDaniel was convinced that using Garapolo and not trading away the extra draft capital was the better way to go. While Stroud played so well right from the start, Davis got more angry every week. It was the beginning of the end for McDaniel.

One more: Panthers owner Dave Tepper claims that they wanted Stroud all along and his GM and Reich were convinced that the Texans were picking Young.

But they picked Young before Texans took Stroud, or am I missing something?
You're not, this is a really weird statement if he did say that... they traded up in fact with the Bears from the 9th overall to have their choice and they chose Young. That guy (Tepper) really seems out of touch with the whole situation or he was grossly misquoted idk.

Tepper is just rationalizing his way to blaming everyone else but himself for missing on an elite QB.
