I think what they're doing with Powell is focusing in on him to ensure their projections are good. In terms of what he can be in the offense. Get him in there and throw the ball to him and see what's what so when they make that bottom roster cut they know they've looked at him.

For the record I expect he makes the cut. But I don't expect him to become some big weapon or anything. So by extension of that I don't think his time with the first team is all that meaningful from a roster standing perspective. I might be underestimating him of course, but either way I think he sticks.
You're not giving the guy 1st team reps unless you're considering using him on 1st team. Reps are way WAY too valuable for that.

Just trying to keep it real. I think folks reading too much into the snaps there. One guy out, another needing a blow in the drills, your vets have been killing it... I could see them taking a look at him like that.

Not that I'm rooting against him or anything. But if they are that impressed we're gonna know it soon because they'll sit his ass in the preseason.

Fair. And I'm certainly not saying the kid is gonna take all the WR3 reps in games if Jefferson can't go (that's ridiculous) but those are valuable reps that should go to Skow or Tutu right now. If one of them is gassed, the other should get it. There's just not enough reps in the modern training camp to give 1st team reps to 3rd on the depth chart (after Harris went down). McVay is trying out Powell as part of the WR3 committee and I suspect he gets some plays (probably a package) if Jefferson can't go for any bit of time.

Again, this is mute if Jefferson can go. But it's there. It's happening.

I kinda want powell solely returning kicks. Don’t get hurt doing something else. He’s too valuable as a return guy. Without him, it’s someone we don’t want back there (experience wise or possibly getting hurt). Powell focus on returns and maybe a deeeeep backup RB/WR

Throw in 2 jet sweeps a game and that threat alone helps the run game. So if he gets 10 snaps a game with a number of fake jet sweeps and he runs two, that is a significant contribution.
