I happened to see some of the combine coverage and mcshay was gushing over the WRs and how fast they were. I’m not the biggest college fb guy but I hadn’t heard of these dudes and I wondered if any of them were actually good at football. Don’t we do this every year, isn’t Kupp exhibit A for the unimportance of 40 times?
Yep, and as they fall those high production on field guys dropping is what we look for.
Combine "losers" could be a target given our lack of capital and have done well for us.

David Bell

David Bell
Purdue · WR
Bell needed an excellent combine workout to put aside questions about his athleticism. His 33-inch vertical, sub-10-foot broad jump and 4.65-second 40-yard-dash time did not quiet the concerns. Bell was solid in on-field drills, showing the strong hands that earned him Big Ten Receiver of the Year honors. WR coaches will be interested in his services in the middle rounds, though.

The Combine has just become the scouting departments future trade targets under Snead.

Jordan fucking Davis, man. To run a 4.78 at 6'6", 340 lbs. is fucking insane. Not even Dontari Poe did that, and he's, like, the gold standard of heavy nose tackles who did that.

Say what ?? I guess The Rams don’t build for the future. That’s the FUNNY thing to me about the media & people that don’t cover The Rams much.Still certain reporters that do don’t get it. That’s way Rodriquez is a good reporter,if that is even HER name? The fact she feels the passion of The Rams players on the roster.
—Each year is its own.The Rams build & develop players & Rely on their comp pics.Yes- the combine is not a total must, they do enough evaluations & have built so many relationships across the country & there scouting they have certain players already slotted into there group Categories.
The combine is in February/March
The draft is in the end of April. There is a lot of time to evaluate a players work ethic as well. Pro days can be just as important & not as crazy or high paced to get to know a player.
Reggie & his Staff do an unbelievable job to really know a players body & the breakdown of the physical part from the medical standpoint. The Rams trust Reggie & his research on players. Ogletree & Gurley come to mind early in the McSnead’s relationship there.Les much more so before Mcvay.

I know those numbers are Freakish, but a young Cat like Bobby Brown is going to surprise Rams Folks.
We all know how Greg Gaines has improved since his rookie season.Eric Henderson is a Heck of a good D’Line coach. 22years old & 320lbs is a good number to know of how much maturity there still is working with such a GREAT Group of Players.
Mentoring is something Sean Mcvay Believes in Big Time.

Eric Weedle helped show what mentoring means & how just one player can help change the mindset of a Team. He helped the Veterans pull the younger players even tighter to believe & trust The Rams system.

For me at least t’s tough to get into the combine with the Rams first pick at the end of round three.

I tune in mostly in free agency and the pre draft visit rumors.

Sure I'll see who signed where. Even the pre-draft visits don't mean anything. If you go back the past few years, you can see the draft is just replacing the guys that left the year prior, or are set to leave after the season.

lol...I'm sure he was all about it.

John Ross, Chris Johnson, Dri Archer, Jerome Mathis, Marquise Goodwin, Tyrone Calico, JJ Nelson, Jacoby Ford have the fastest 40s in WR/RB.

With the exception of Chris Johnson (who only had a 6 year run), the rest should show the amazingness of the 40 yard dashes in the underwear olympics.

Yeah, I'm with those who have put the Combine on the Ho-hum boring list. But I did notice that one of the top rated QBs (K. Pickett) had a hand size of 8.5.
What do you guys think of this? Does this knock him down and mebbe even out of the First Round?

Heh...I remember the Jared Goff hand size wars. But at least he was a solid 9.1 or something. This Picket guy has hands about the size of Mike Vick if I recall.

I'd be drafting Matt Coral if I wanted a QB this year tbh. Pickett seems like a great kid and all but I like Coral's game.

I think you can get a feel for who or what they are looking at through orders ft visit reports. For instance last year the Rams interest in Jacob Harris was reported along with Tutu Atwell and Javian Hawkins. Also they reportedly liked the guy that Seattle picked ahead of them.

But then many picks we've got no clues for. Those are mostly rounds 5 -7, which constitutes most of the Rams draft this year.

It would knock him down my board.

Sam Darnold, Carolina Panthers: 9⅜
Tom Brady, Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 9⅜

Zach Wilson, New York Jets: 9½

Notable backups

Drew Lock, Denver Broncos: 9 inches

saw a little of it while getting dinner at a bar Saturday.

Davis from Georgia is a freak! But, will be long gone for Rams.

Not a fan of “run it back” mantra or the idea that the exact team could win again.

Fresh blood mixed in who is hungry to win keeps the fire burning.

There’s plenty of talent at the combine who will be around when the Rams pick. I was watching the guys on the OL snapping the ball and guys who aren’t getting all the love from the talking heads. Wouldn’t mind seeing some of the RBs drop but, the big guys are more likely targets late.

Even if we do run it back, next year’s rams could be very different. Will guys like Tutu and Harris and Brown and Copeland and Funk develop and contribute? Later round guys take a little longer in many cases so we should see what these guys are about in the upcoming season. But there’s also reinforcements coming from guys who we know can play like Woods, Akers, Fuller and even Stafford, who should be more comfortable in year 2.
The last time the rams went to the SB they were one of the healthiest teams, that was definitely not the case this time but it might work in their favor with all these players returning.

Thats one way to look at it. We have a lot of “new players” returning from injury in 2022. (y)

As the draft goes we have seen a mix of both; guys contributing right away… Skow, E Jones… draft picks that emerge later; Gaines, Scott, others.

Sure would be great for Atwell and Harris to deliver in 2022. Brown, Rochelle, etc.
