Impossible to keep up with all the player movements. If the Rams were around the $23.5 Mil mark after NRC then

Add
Blythe: Guess around 2.5 to 3.0 Mil use 3.0 Mil
Whit : Guess around 8-11 Mil use 9.0 Mil
Floyd : Guess straight 10 Mil use 10 Mil
Robinson: Guess 7.5 Mil this year use 7.5 Mil

Total 29.5 Mil Subtracted

Gain

TG cut 5.5 Mil effective June 1
CM cut 3.75 Mil

Total Added is9.25 Mil

So 9.25 Mil lost of the 23.5Mil they had that include draft pool and operating expenses.

They could have around 3.25 Mil remaining but, it's impossible to know at this time or ever. Better to wait but, it's a guestimate.

I'm sure I did something off but, someone will correct me. I'm having fun guessing.

Wow, Rams get a big break in Whit's cap cost in 2020. It's only 6.67
that adds 2.34 Mil back to the estimate.

So it's now 3.25 + 2.34 Mil gives the Rams 5.59 Mil which is about the relief space Rams get from Gurley cut June 1. Makes them even with rookie pool and in season operating expenses accounted for. If this is close it seems the Rams had a solid cap space plan for free agency without restructuring Goff's contract or others at this time.

This is hard to follow even though I'm writing it out. The Bythe and Floyd contracts are still not posted. If everything goes good with the Gurley physical the Rams will get an additional amount of cap space back around $2.5 Mil to go along with the $5.5 Mil they save by making Gurley a June 1 cut.

Gurley is slated to make $6 million on Atlanta's one-year deal. Including the $7.5 million bonus owed to him by the Rams, with $2.5 million offset, Gurley will make $11 million in 2020, a source told Rapoport.

LOL I think I need a redo here. Here where we started.

There usually seems to be confusion about the cap number with roster spots, draft pool and in season operating (roster move) numbers.

*Include top 51 players
*Includes draft pool $4,294,652
*To make it simple (I hope) the Rams get back cap space from the roster spots the drafted players replace.
*The Rams also need money during the season to make roster moves.
*I would just take the draft pool $4,294,652 as the operating amount the Rams need during the season and get to the 53 man roster.

*So yes $19 Million would be a good number to go on.

*Edit: This is only a guestimate of the cap space available for discussion purposes.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Subtractions from the cap guestimates until numbers are announced

$6.67M Whit : Confirmed rounded
$3.00M Blythe: Guess around 2.5 to 3.0
$10.0M Floyd : Guess straight 10 M
$7.50M Robinson: Guess 7.5 M this year

$27.17M Total cost estimate from new signings subtracted from cap.

Adding back into the cap the savings from cuts.

$4.5M NRC
$3.75M Mathews

$8.25M Total back into cap.... Without Todd Gurley's savings effective June 1 which will be another $8.00M back into the cap.

The difference of the recent moves is a minus ( $18.92M) rounded to the $19M

The Estimate was at $19M and Rams spent $19M which equals a BIG FAT O cap space estimate remaining without the Gurley savings.

The Rams do have the rookie pool estimate cash and the operating cash money available to spend if they choose before they get the Gurley cap savings. It is close to the Gurley savings. Rounded up that's $4.3 for the Rookie Pool and $4.3 for the in-season operating expenses (Roster Moves) it is around $8.6M

The Rams will have an estimated $8.00M in cap space come June 1.

If I did this correctly by firing Gurley the Rams have that extra money to spend or hold for next year. It could be used to counter the dead money from Gurley's remaining cap hit in 2021.

Thanks for all the cap info! I was wondering how all this player movement affected it. Appreciate your work!

You guys see the NFL is trying to short the players of 40 million per team of cap this year to make up costs or this?

Latest NFL economic proposal cuts team player costs by $40M
NFLShield

Around the NFL Staff
NFL.COM

The latest economic proposal from the NFL to the NFLPA regarding the effects of COVID-19 during the 2020 season removes a portion of player salary held in escrow, however, it does call for a cut to each team's player costs.
NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported Thursday night that the NFL has proposed cutting each team's player costs by $40 million in salary cap and/or benefits for this season, per sources informed of the situation. That move replaces a previous proposal that called for 35 percent of player salaries be held in escrow to aid in managing costs.
Pelissero reported that player leadership is strongly opposed to such a short-term hit that a $40 million cut would entail. The proposal to hold a percentage of salary in escrow also was not well received by players.
Also under the current proposal any player who wishes to opt out of the 2020 season may do so with written notice by Aug. 1.
Pelissero added that per the Collective Bargaining Agreement, the NFL and NFLPA must negotiate in good faith to manage a projected multibillion-dollar revenue shortfall. The players union prefers to spread the hit over future salary caps, while the league wants help managing costs now.

Fucking crooked dick heads lol

Or threatening to have the cap lowered next year if they don't take it.

Paying QB’s 30-35 mill but will have to cut/restructure/under pay bottom 1/2 of roster to stay under the Cap is the NFL big problem.
The bubble is going to burst

Nah.... I like grabbing numbers out of my ass and then making arguments for why we should grab high end FAs.

I’m not a CAP GURU . Just basic numbers work. For Me.

Goff ??? Mcvay is all in with him. He is just a solid young QB. It going to be how he holds himself in the clutch & if there needs to be meaningful adjustments to his contract he can make help the team out.

Aaron Donald????
RAMsey?????

Then this becomes crazy on how to keep this team together moving forward?????

Fowler - squash move. 3rd rd comp ??

Gurley— wow ??? Bad signing from day 1. The Rams held Aaron Donald out TWICE. Playout his rookie contract.Goff is a young QB without having a major knee surgery. A #10 pick for a RB??

Clay was Clay — he brought a veteran leadership style that was beneficial. He was a me first guy. Always the guy who would take a penalty & sack vs. staying at home making the right play.
True colors came out.

JJ (Weedle)— another interesting decision.
T.Hill ??
Reynolds-???
Kupp???
Floyd???
Everett????
Corbett???
Fox???
Ebukam????
D.Williams???
M.Brown????

Will see how things playout. To many numbers vs. production to think about.
Just a good future of comp picks 2022.

So.... Do you know how this shakes out? Nope.

I just don't waste my thoughts on how they're going to afford what. Obviously we can't just buy players like the Whiners did while the league was getting a "grasp on things". So we have to rely on the FO.

Don't get me wrong. I've often thought... HTF did they do that? Answer:. They knew how to play it.
