Definitely. Certainly they're more sold on LT being ok. Jones would have sat on the bench too and that is hard to commit to that when you want to restart the offensive engine.
And they can still supplement the OL. This thing ain't over yet.
They will get someone for the oline and a linebacker, coming up soon.
Imo this is a correct strategy, very well executed. Rams didn't trade down for some slight gain in a late round. They went for pro-ready impact players. (YES!) They almost certainly got players they had targeted. They went for offense first as I suspected they might.
These are both highly talented offensive skill players. They appear to have been selected in part for skill and mental approach and in part for their fit on the Rams' O. There could have been other choices at these positions, but these are the players McVay wanted.
Akers will likely be starting this year right away and I suspect Jefferson will not be far behind him. He is a cerebral player with great mastery of the position-- McVay's kind of guy. A great route runner. Big enough.
Yes, the Oline has to come through, and yes they still need help there. Stay tuned. But adding these two guys takes us a long step back toward being an unstoppable offense.
McVay is reloading the shotgun on offense.
