McVay desires a more seasoned deep wideout on the field like Jefferson.

Weak Side OLB Lewis may be getting close to being fully healthy & is seeing additional snaps but has yet to really show any play-making abilities thus far this season. I am waiting to see if he can fulfill all that hype that everyone has anointed onto him since his arrival from Bama.

I feel positive about the OLB'ers & there is a good chance we might see a few of these ER's step up this Sunday!
Hope to see what Garrett can do in a game.
Hollins has upped his game so far from last year and looks like a steal.

Better thrown in safety Jordan Fuller who may be the worst of the 3 you have listed.

I don't care how many tackles he has he is not playing well & not on top of his game @ all.

Brady will make him look silly this Sunday mark it down & keep an eye on just how late Fuller arrives if he arrives at all to any run play. His coverages in the deep zones are pathetic. Do you want to talk about reaction time & proper angles.....he is said to be really football smart but he is not the most gifted athlete & just plain slow....... to get my point here? Yes, Fuller had his best game in 2020 against the Buc's I am fully aware of that.

I feel really bad about ragging on a promising Ram safety. I really love what I observed from his play last season when he was healthy & not ladened down with defensive captain & play calling, but I would just say to my Ram buds who might disagree to take time to rewatch the last two games & you tell me what you see in his on-field performance that has been good.

My solution @ this time is to give the play-calling duties to full-time starting 4 yr veteran ILB'er Kenny Young & let this 2nd yr safety Fuller turn all his attention to improving his overall performance back to what it is was in 2020. Jordan Fuller only finished 10 gms in the NFL until this season last season & might be too green to be making the calls in this defense against Brady.:bueller:

SS Taylor Rapp lacks & brings zero hits with all his tackles. I wish I had the stats on how many whiffs or how often he is drugged for several more yards after he makes contact in making his tackle in just 2 gms? But his performance in coverage has improved slightly from the 2 previous seasons. Rapp still is a liability.
I agree with your take on Fuller. He is also late on most tackles and pass defenses. But I am giving him a pass because he is playing the deep coverage per the scheme. He doesn’t have the speed or athleticism of JJ or other safety’s to come up and make plays in front of him.

The counter arguement is we haven’t given up any deep plays for TD’s and really around 15 ppg on defense when taking away the punt snafu.

I seem to remember prior years such as last year us starting off really soft in coverage like this and then tightening it up later. In a season when broken coverages for long TDs are happening every game, our stay behind the lm mentality might be wise as a starting point.

I see Morris throwing some wrenches in this week because that bend don’t break doesn’t work against a QB like Brady who and throw the short stuff all day and covert it in the red zone.

what? jj was slow as fuck. he had a large lead over the umpa when he intercepted him in his rookie season and the little fuck chased him down and brought him down inside the red zone.

Fuller fell in the draft because he doesn’t have the speed or athleticism of top safeties He ran a 4.67 40 and mor importantly game film showed what we are seeing now which is his slow reaction time. See the following

Russell Wilson is a 4.55 guy which is plenty to catch a safety.

JJ ran a 4.61. technically faster, but let's be real. 6 hundredths of a second aren't making a real difference on a down by down basis.

I'm just gonna admit I don't know what to say about the secondary...only Jalen has been steady. Perhaps this 3rd week will have these guys more sure about their responsibilities, reads, and reactions.

- OTOH...is moving Jalen around hurting the other guys???
- Are guys sure about where they need to be with Jalen moving around???

I'm just wondering...I don't know...but I know they better cover and tackle well Sunday.

Agreed the 40 is not much different.

it’s really the change of direction and reaction time where JJ was much more athletic from the scouts perspective and what I observed personally. But to each their own If they think Fuller is as athletic.

Fuller and the rest of the secondary was fantastic under Stanley but now everyone except Ramsey sucks, funny how that works

it’s not the same secondary. 2 of 5 starters (JJ, Hill) are no longer here. The 3 remaining starters are playing new roles/ positions.

2020 first two games: 18ppg.
2021 first two games 15 ppg.

I am as livid about the loose coverage as anyone but the points given up are actually lower and there new positions and new faces.

I am giving Raheem a minute to get it together before I go full apeshit. Which could be as early as this weekend.

I have never been a big Morris guy. I just pray his time in the NFC South might be enough to help us get a DUB. Might be a tie breaker at the end of the season!

Does anyone remember game 3 vs the Bills last year? Many people were pissed at Staley because he was rarely bringing more than 4 man pressure.

I remember our weak zone getting exposed much like these first two weeks. Guys just couldn't respond to break up a pass quick enough or make the quick tackle after the reception. Staley then mentioned that they were going to take a look and see if bringing more pressures would make sense. Long story short, he started mixing it up with 5 and 6 man pressures and the DB's tightened up significantly. They also went to several disguised coverages.

The point is sometimes strategy change and defenders get their feet under them allowing them to start tightening up their coverages.

That's what I am hoping for.

We were ready to run Staley out of town. The first positive narrative to pop up was his 2nd half adjustments.

In theory, Morris has the knowledge in place on his staff to start throwing more looks out there. I’m going to be optimistic and hope the first two games are working bugs out.
I think the goal line stands may show that the talent level is still very high. Olines got zero push.

I just rewatched the Colts goal line stand. SJD, Gaines and Robinson are a pretty stout group. Team stop, but I think those three stood out.

I'm really expecting some Harris plays this week as well as some more shots to DJax or Atwell. I have to feel that McVay has been saving some of his best/most surprising plays for this game. You have to go all out to beat the defending champs and it will solidify our spotlight as a sure fire SB contender. I am just hoping for the D to step us also, they've been a lot of bend don't break. Won't work against Tom.
Receiver rookie Harris who has yet to make a play has been out with a hip injury & still out. DeSean Jackson just out from the Assisted Living Home has only been in 3 snaps in 2 gms did not even practice yesterday. Guess they have overworked that worn-out body because he needed rest all week.

My concern is with the individual play of those secondary players and they don't look good. Last year we played Dallas in the 1st game, high powered pass offense, and Fuller played great. He had a game saving tackle. Now I understand the D was playing soft and yes many of us were upset with the coverages but those players were making big plays. Now those same players are too slow or in the wrong spot? Is it that Morris changed the D scheme that much and players are thinking too much? I just hope Morris has something different planned for Tampa because their offense is no joke.

Your post put in such kinder friendlier concern terms.....than I could.

I will not partake of that Ram secondary Koolaid some have been selling:sick2:.

Jalen Ramsey for all purposes has carried that Ram secondary the first two weeks all by himself.
