Logistical and rules nightmare but it would be funny to watch.

I'll tell you what, you'd see teams not tanking for that first round pick. How humiliating, but hilarious at the same time.

I can see it working if the rules were the same. On a side note, seeing a relegation/promotion system in American sports in general would be interesting as well as it would discourage tanking

Not gonna happen though with the current system in place

Sounds interesting but no thanks. I don't think I'd be too happy if the Rams got demoted to the XFL. I can live with the Rams being terrible as long as they're in the NFL and I can still watch them. Im not going to watch both the NFL and XFL since I have other hobbies that get majority of my attention during the offseason. It sucks because I wouldn't get to watch the Rams so instead I'll just be watching the Chiefs assuming that they haven't been demoted as well.

To be demoted to the XFL under this premise, they'd have to be the worst team in the league, then lose to the XFL champs. If this happened, they'd deserve to be ignored until they fought their way back.

Also wonder if the WINNER of the Super Bowl should play the winner of the XFL? SUPER DUPER BOWL! If the XFL wins, the WORST team in the NFL goes to XFL. Imagine tanking and not even controlling your own destiny in getting sent to the XFL :)

One problem is there might be a couple NFL worthy players on the demoted team. It's possible to be the best player in the league at your position but your team could still be the worst.

A bunch of NFL players vs a bunch of scrubs who couldn’t make it in the league.

This is the same as the best college team argument, the talent gap is pretty obvious, NFL team would dominate.

If the NFL team played for real, they'd slaughter the XFL team.

LOL @flv no way that happens.

This discussion has been around for years in the form @bluecoconuts brings up.

The XFL winner would be massive underdogs and probably shut out in a 70 burger or 80 burger game.

That’s what I was thinking.

I suppose, if the miracle happened... hang the XFL Team banner in your Stadium. That‘s embarrassing enough.

Then there is no fear in doing it, right? I think every once in a while, the XFL team would win...not often, but the game would put the fear of God into the suck ass NFL team who mailed it in at seasons end. No team would want to be in that position, so all teams would be trying at years end BRILLIANT!

This would probably encourage NFL players to play a 110% all the time and not half ass it making it like actual football again...

It’d all be funny and cool until it’s your team going to the xfl and suddenly the rage would be real lol. Would alienate one NFL franchise fan base every year.

Not if the NFL team won. Win and you stay. No rage required.
