Just placed a wager on the Cardinals. Yes, I'm a homer.

One round down, 3 to go.

Surprises? Seattle beating Toronto and Philly beating St. Louis. Can they continue? I think Seattle has a better chance than Philly but neither will probably advance.

Gonna be fun to watch.

NLDS is interesting. Philly leads 2 games to 1. Dodgers in danger of falling behind 2 games to 1. Baseball is a funny game. Teams can be more evenly matched than football or basketball. Its just a matter of who gets hot at the right time. Padres and Phillies look like the two hotter teams in the NL.

The thing is, 1 guy can lift a team in baseball. A hitter can get hot and if he comes up in situations where you can't walk him, he can do damage. A pitcher can be dominant, inhittable and nothing can be done. In this case it looks like the Padre bullpen has taken over. So what's the answer? Get to the starter early and often. But Musgrave has been hot his last 10 or so starts.

My dad is so anti Dave Roberts this is him. Six different texts within the hour after the game saying shit like he'll never root for them again with him running the team. Almost as bad as a GDT for the Rams here. I think I saw a dozen people talking last weekend about how their Sundays are open the rest of the year since they don't have to watch the Rams anymore :D Of course half of them have been posting non stop since playing Dallas haha

I will say when you win that many games during the season only to get knocked out in the first round you play, its a complete waste of a season. Thats baseball. Its all about who gets hot at the right time. A 111 win team. Two 101 win team. All knocked out before the NLCS.

The Dodgers are 21st century version of the 90's Braves. All that potential, all those wins, all that hype, 1 World Championship. But I'd much rather be a Dodger fan than an Angel fan.

Baseball made it interesting this year with the Wild Card series. But does it do the two clubs with the bye any good to be off for 5 days? Braves lost. Dodgers lost. Yankees are down 2-1.

Sure the Astros won but Dusty Baker said, "it's tougher to overcome rust than it is fatigue". If it weren't for what turned out to be a weak Seattle team they might not have overcome either.

Dodgers lost because they had a streak of going 0 for 30+ with runners in scoring position. They should have won game 2 and game 4 but they just sucked in important hitting situations.

Same thing happened when Seattle won 116. Dumped like a bad first date. You could feel this happening before it did. Sucks but at least ATL got upset too.

Dodger Blue forever.

Anybody see Josh Naylor rocking the baby home run trot in game 4? Totally over the top. But then that's just one Yankee fan's opinion. I'm sure Yankee haters loved it. I was actually hoping for a 5 run lead so somebody could buzz him in his next plate appearance. That's not the way it works in today's game but years ago, he wouldn't get buzzed, he'd get drilled. Of course we'll see what happens tonight if the game gets out of hand either way. That was a bush, over the top move IMHO and no matter what era the game is being played, it begs for retaliation.

Well the Yankees showed remarkable restraint. No chin music for Naylor but Glyber Torres was awesome on the last out of the game, rocking the baby while glaring into the Cleveland dugout.

So now it's time to see who plays in the World Series. That much anticipated NLCS between the Dodgers and Braves didn't happen. We have the third place Phillies (87-75; 14 GB) playing the Padres (89-73; 22 GB) for a trip to the World Series. The #5 and #6 seeds. Philly is up 1-0. They look like a team of destiny.
Over in the American League, it's the ALCS everybody thought we'd see. NY Yankees vs Houston. Houston is favored as they should be. Beat the Yankees 5 out of 7 in the regular season with the two Yankee wins coming on a 4 run 9th (7-6) and a 3 run 10th (6-3). The 5 Astro wins were 3-1, 3-0, 2-1, 3-2 and 7-5. They haven't met in 3 months.

They are always on point, creative and deadly. Like in 2001 when Schilling called (Yankee Stadium) Mystique &Aura dancers in a nightclub. After the Yankees came back from defeat in the bottom of the 9th two nights in a row, the cameras showed the fan with the huge sign, "Mystique and Aura Appearing Nightly".

Astros will likely win but I’m cheering for the Phillies
So am I. Despite living in the Philly area and knowing Philly fans will be unbearable for 10 months, I hate the Astros too much to not root for Philly.

Having said that, with Philly up 4-0 in the 5th of game 3, if they win will Rob Thompson be the first manager since Bob Lemon in 1978, to take over after a firing and win the World Series?
