I really can't argue a whole lot with anybody's picks, but one no one has mentioned is Nolan Cromwell. I would pick him over several of the names that you've all mentioned so far.

I personally don't think beyond Deacon and Merlin that you can rate any of the ones you brought up over others brought up.

One thing I will say is I think that someone who played for the Rams for several years should help increase their value more than someone like Faulk or Warner who were with the Rams for a relatively short period of time.

Oh, and don't go using Super bowls as too much of a measuring stick, because some pretty average players have won Super Bowls, while people like Jim Kelly and Dan Marino haven't.

Loved Cromwell.... I have been watching some old games on Youtube and Cromwell really shows up a lot. Was a great, great player. Had they won a SB back then, he might have made the HOF.

Yeah, but George Washington made the real Rushmore, because he won, so...

I’m going with an “overview of Rams history” for my Mt Rushmore.

My picks:

1. Van Brocklin
2. Deacon
3. Dickerson
4. Warner

1. 40s/50s: I think the Rams great history in the 1940s and 1950s should get representation on the mountain. Crazy Legs? Waterfield? Going by stats and records and championships, I’ll go with Van Brocklin.

2. 60s/70s: Maybe Merlin or Youngblood, but a look at (unofficial) sack stats says Deacon has to be the choice.

3. 80s: I wasnt crazy about ED’s attitude, but (to me) ED represents the Rams in this era.

4. GSOT era: Warner. Would love to see Bruce or Marshall up there, but if I have to pick one out of these 3, I pick Warner.

Kinda cool that there’s so many different choices... So hard to pick just four!

I have a feeling there's gonna come a time where this young kid named Jared Goff is going to be at or near the top of the list in about a decade.

Well, since Warner has shunned us for the Cardinals and chose to go to the HOF as a Card and is in their Mt Rushmore, he isnt on mine.

Wow, we did this same thread back in 2013 on a different board (RRF).
I'll stick with what I posted back on June 12, 2013.

fyi...NFL hall of fame doesn't go by teams. Here's a quote from Warner back in the day:

"Ironically, in the NFL, you do not have to choose a team. It's not like MLB where you have a hat on your bust. In the NFL, you just have a bust of your face. If I get in, I wouldn't have to choose and wouldn't want to choose."

Mine would be

1. Deacon
2. Merlin Olsen
3. Jack Youngblood
4. Eric Dickerson

For the folks who said it should be GSOT guys I would counter that the same could be said for the 49-52' Championship stars. Hirsch, Van Brocklin, Waterfield, Fears... they lit the league UP!!!! No one had seen an offense like that. Truly innovative and it yielded a Championship team and 3 Championship appearances in a 3 year span.

As for the GSOT guys, its still considered the best offense of all time. They won an actual Super Bowl and were screwed out of another.
Seriously one of the most talented and succesful Rams teams of all time. If young Rams fans should learn about the old greats from the 50s through the 80s, lets make sure the best Rams team in the last half century gets some credit.

Guys like Faulk and Bruce were setting records and doing in a system that spread the ball around.

Those 2 decades in St Louis might not be everyones favorite era, but the GSOT is as good as the RAMS ever were, and its players were as amazing as any...

No doubt the GSOT deserves a lot of love. I remained a die hard fan when they moved there and the duration of their time there. I attended the 99 Super Bowl in Atlanta and rank it as one of the top 3 experiences of my life! When I hear the question of who should be on the Rams Mt. Rushmore I don't differentiate between LA, STL or Cleveland! As far as a Championship not being the same or as valid as a Super Bowl, if that's what your statement implies, I whole heartedly disagree. A championship game between the top 2 teams in the league is just that, no matter what it's called. Is the GSOT the best the Rams have ever been? Overall maybe, it's not that easy to quantify. On Offense, Probably. On Defense...I would say no. That 49-52' team was pretty spectacular and innovative. So much so that it prompted the television networks to televise all their home games because they saw the entertainment value. They were the first team that was done with. At the end of the day, we have so many greats it's a tough call!!

Just think of what a Cleveland Browns "Mt. Rushmore" looks like.... #yikes

Yikes indeed. Dare I say.....Bernie?

Actually, not as bad as you think with their storied history. Maybe:

Jim Brown
Otto Graham
Ozzie Newsome
Clay Matthews

Wow yeah, any team with HOF player(s) could have a Rushmore. Jim Brown is an all-time great.
But Clay Matthews is a QB spearing dirt bag... we talking about the same guy that's a Packer??
