Was it @DR RAM who liked Matt Longacre? Because he really really impressed me last night. I think he makes the team. They could not block him.
Longacre stood out to me too! I don't think Wang is long for the squad! He sucked!! But it is just the 1st pre season game!

Although I do wonder if both Jones and Rhaney might be waived and a veteran C/G like Brian De La Puente or someone else might be brought in during the final cutdown.

Not a whole lot to quibble about, Memphis.

But here are a few minor points...

I'm no longer sure about Jones. If he lacks the strength to oppose push at C, how does he handle backup OG?

Will they feel the need to somehow, someway carry a 10th OL?

Should we count out Bryant for that 5th S position in favor of Hagen just yet? I need to see more before I go either way.

Bonus question... Is it possible to trade away a player at a position of strength for a C? A RB, or maybe a S? Would've included CB before Gaines' injury.

Jones may prove be a jack of all trades and master of none, but I wonder if that jack of all trades still might have some value. He may not be able to excel, but they could possibly line him up at every position on the OLine and give him some help, in a pinch.

I thought about a 10th OLineman, but couldn't pick one. The rest look they had practice squad eligibility, so I passed.

Bryant, Hagen, Davis, Reed? I'd guess that the best special teamer will probably win final DB spot.

I'm sure that I am in the minority here, but, IMO the only position of strength this team has is at DLine (especially with Gurley unable to play). And I wouldn't move any of them given the upcoming free agency /cap decisions coming up in 2016.

PFF grades:

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/08/15/grades-for-rams-raiders/

St. Louis Rams

–Trumaine Johnson was targeted just twice in coverage, resulting in a pass breakup and an interception.

–Bryce Hager and Ethan Westbrooks lead the Rams with 45 total snaps.

–The Rams averaged 7.0 yards per carry between the center and left guard, their highest at any run position.

Top 5 Graded Players

Trumaine Johnson (+1.7)

Matt Longacre (+1.6)

Rob Havenstein (+1.5)

Cody Davis (+1.4)

Bryce Hager (+1.4)

_______________________________

Looks like they agree with me about Longacre. I thought he was tremendous in this game and he is my new man crush, reminded me of Westbrooks last year.

I did like Hager in this game as well. He had a nice play against Trent Richardson where he shut down the cutback lane and Rich had to keep going into a wall of Rams.

Havenstein played well, they ran Benny to the right side with the 1s on a conversion play, like 3rd and 1, and he picked up 6. They got good push over on the right side and held up well in pass pro. Excited for these two young guys.

Obviously we know how Tru played.

Didn't see much of Davis if I remember, but noticed him on a nice play closing in preventing YAC, receiver only gained a couple IIRC.

Surprised to hear about the 7 YPC between center and LG. I'd have to go back but I don't remember being that impressed with the push in the run game there.

He flashed in the scrimmage, and didn't play badly. He's got something, and his SPARQ would be high if they tested it. I'd like to see him on the left side, a little.

With our depth concerns at LB, Bryce Hager would be a nice "win" if he cuts it.
