Using the eye test, there is a ton of uncalled holding penalties. It's turning me off. I don't like it.

Quick check of Pro-Football-Reference.com shows the following for Offensive holding calls/game
2018 - 1.36
2017 - 2.59
2016 - 2.75
2015 - 2.77

Penalty data is by year under Other

That is a drop of approx 50% in holding calls. That is the kind of thing O Linemen notice.

Add to that the fact that teams are passing more every year.

this confirms what our eyes are seeing. ridiculous what these idiots are doing to this great game. if i want to watch basketball i'll go watch one of their shit games. i want to watch football, where scoring tds isn't supposed to be a given every drive.

This sucks when you have one of the best DLs in football and they suddenly decide to not call OL holding. The teams with the best DLs are the ones most negatively affected by not enforcing the rules.

I have to wonder if maybe a rule doesn't change but the emphasis on it does. That is a significant drop in holding calls. Perhaps refs were shown pics of holds and told "For the upcoming season this pic is a hold. This one is not".

Yeah people get mad because Donald gets held - kind of what started this.

I'm trying to be be objective and say if they are calling holding less it very well could be to our advantage since offense is our bread and butter.

The more I think about this, along with what I have seen this year, is they are still calling holding on running plays, they just don't seem to care about Offensive Holding on passing plays.
