My take: The St. Louis Rams gave up a fifth-round pick to move up three spots from No. 44 to No. 41 to draft Joyner. In the interest of full disclosure, I believed this was possibly the best possible pick the Rams could make amongst all the defensive backs in this draft. The Rams needed a player capable of helping at safety but with the versatility to play in the nickel. Joyner fits both of those needs in one pick and brings incredible leadership to the table as well. Now, to be clear, Joyner is small at 5-foot-9, 184 pounds, but his toughness and football acumen usually put him in the right place at the right time.

Flexibility Fit: He should have a chance to start at safety right away and work as the nickel. Expect to see him on the field early and often. It's the same role Rodney McLeodplayed last year, but Joyner should offer an obvious upgrade. The Rams needed to add some help at corner and safety and Joyner can do both, which also should give the Rams more flexibility in the next few rounds.

What's next: The Rams' next pick is coming in the third round at No. 75. They could go any number of ways with that pick, including quarterback and offensive line.
