This cracks me up. This article makes him out to be some ultra tough guy. Freaking pansies. I lost the tips of four fingers including about 1/4" of bone on my ring finger. What did I do? I calmly wrapped my hand with gauze and collected up the tips while waiting for my wife to come pick me up and take me to the hospital. Then I waited 5 1/2 hours for the joke of a hospital to put a doctor in front of me - a doctor, mind you, that had no idea how to use the cauterizing equipment (he kept shocking himself).

Then, I went back to work, and went on a week long elk hunt in the mountains of Eastern Oregon the next week.

So excuse me if I roll my ideas at the idea this guy is SO tough because he lost a tip of a pinkie and had some of the best doctors in the world and after care as well and was able to come back out and snap a football. BFD

Just remember it wasn't him that wrote the article. I broke my foot at work one day and continued to work for 5 more hours before going home, taking a shower and then going to the doctors. Put it in walking boot and back to work the next day. No big deal. Although the damn thing hurts now when the weather changes.

Yeah... more just poking fun and I’m guessing he never made a big deal about it. The article just kind of cracked me up and I’m guessing most players - including him - rolled their eyes at it.

Funny you mention your foot thing. I had a similar deal when I was a kid and broke my ankle on a horse packing trip. My dad kept saying, awe shaddup, you’re not hurt. Three days later I convinced my mom to take me in. When my dad came home he looked at my cast and said, “what happened to you?”

To this day anytime he complains about hurting himself, my response of course is, shaddup, you’re not hurt.” It’s been a standing joke for almost 50 years.

"Just the tip" ?

I've tried convincing my wife with that option... but she just won't go for it.

ran my thumb thru a table saw once..wrapped it up, finished the job I was on, packed up tools and then went to hospital. Called the wife on the way and then proceeded to pass out in the ER lol
