Tough loss, but I was happy to see the offense in top gear for the first time in a long time.

The reversal of the 2pt conversion run by Goff was critical. If that stands, the game would have probably been 31-31 (Seattle kicking an extra pt instead of missing 2pt conversion also). My question is, I don't recall seeing a definitive view that showed Goff NOT making it. Did I miss an angle shown on TV? It was very close, but routinely the officials are pretty conservative - no clear replay to the contrary, no reversal.

The second question is the TD catch by Woods that we challenged. It looked like the knees touched in-bounds at the precise instant his elbows touched out of bounds. You may dispute this, but presume this is how it happened. What is the rule there on that? I would think it should be like baseball - tie goes to the runner, or in this case, in-bound body part wins. TD Rams.

Thanks.

I think the rules expert for Fox stated that a tie is out of bounds

That's the way I've always thought, tie goes to out of bounds. Watching both plays, the Woods play and the 2 pt. conversion, I thought both were the right calls. Unfortunately. Now the Clay roughing the passer call....that was BS.

Both calls were correct. With Goff you could use two angles to show he was short of the line.

The call that wasn't correct was Everett being down at the 1 foot line. His knee hadn't touched and was a TD. Didn't matter with Gurley scoring on the next play but still

Maybe it's just me but I've consistently seen them NOT use two views to do anything. If one view didn't show it, then it's not definitive.

There was a Gurley TD they was denied based on that earlier this year. You could see the ball up by his face in one view, but not when his knee hit the ground. In the other view you could see the knee but not the ball. They said no definitive evidence of a TD.

And that's been pretty typical. If one view doesn't show both, then it's not definitive. And that is shitty, but it makes sense. But here they go against that standard and logic.

It was the right call, not disputing that. Simply saying that they usually don't do the two angle to make a conclusion thing. Typically it's one angle or no definitive evidence, at least in games I've watched. And I've watched games where using two angles would definitely overturn the call and they didn't do it. But here they did. It was right, just atypical.

So the roughing the passer call against Matthews. Was there an explanation from the referee as to what part of Matthews hit was determined to be the roughing (late hit, blow to head, etc)?

Btw - it looked like Woods prematurely launched his body for the negated TD catch. I didn't record it - so can anyone confirm?

Well it is possible that the woods catch would not have been overturned if the ref had ruled it a td.

I still can’t get over the Matthews penalty of roughing the passer. Was just to violent is what I’ve concluded is why he threw that flag.

When I saw it live it looked like a nothing hit. I was shocked a flag was thrown.

What irritates me is the oompa saw him coming from 10 yards away. He chose to throw it away after there was no chance for Matthews to stop.

I hate qbs so much.

I am reminded in this thread how many close plays/bad calls went against us the other night. Add to those the spatula interception, the Gurley -stand him up and strip him- fumble, and the kick that missed by 6” at the end, and it is pretty amazing. The Rams should have won.

Edit-and their 4th down bobble TD. Wow

Agreed, but what was in their control? Deep DBs staying put and not giving up big plays. Missed tackles by Ebukam and Reeder making us remember the days of Animal (tackles 5 yards beyond their line of scrimmage). The dropped pass by Everett and the missed FG by Z. Practice and execution will definitely improve these areas. We'll be fine after the bye if not by next game.
