LaDainian Tomlinson will sign a one-day contract on Monday and retire as a San Diego Chargers, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported.

Tomlinson spent nine of his 11 NFL seasons with the Chargers and scored 28 rushing touchdowns during the 2006 season. Tomlinson finished out his career with the New York Jets the past two seasons.

Tomlinson is the fifth all-time leading rusher in the NFL with 13,684 yards. He also scored 145 rushing touchdowns, which is second all-time to Emmitt Smith.

Good for him. He's a classy guy and a true Charger. That idiot GM should've never driven him away like he did.

I hope I see Tomlinson's name in the Hall someday.

He has more touchdowns than anyone except Emmitt Smith and more yards than anyone except Smith, Walter Payton, Barry Sanders, and (surprisingly) Curtis Martin. All of his stats were compiled in a passing league, so that has to count as well. Add in his consistency, and he'll get in on his first try for sure.

L.T. is about as sure of a lock for the Hall as anyone who is eligible.
