Theink about it .. for several yrs, the biggest "change" on the offense was "who was added to the Receiving Corps". Yr after yr .. WR's, TE's came and left. This year ... We have a ne OC, at least TWO if not THREE new QB's, a near complete rebuild of the OL. More infusion to the RB position .... and what has remained the same? ... pretty much the WR corps and TE's.

It's kind of a new dynamic for me ... and one that is making my jonesing for this season to get going even more powerful than normal. We really have NO idea how this offense is going to look. For the past 5-6 yrs .. one or two additions kind of gave some "hope" ... "new look" ... but NOTHING like we are going to see this yr. Not only we as fans ... but our opposition has to be wondering how this all will pan out. They really have NO "tape" to go off of. So many moving chess pcs. and I am excited and curious as to how it works out!

I agree with you, but to add more to how much this offense has changed.

The Rams added.
A new offensive coordinator
A new QB coach
A new offensive assistant
A new starting QB
A new starting RB
Drafted 5 OL (Including Battle)
1 FA OL

Did I miss anyone?

We definitely don't know what to expect from a offensive standpoint except that they're going to be running the ball a lot.

I'm personally very excited to see how this new offense looks. I really like most of the players we added. If this offense can score 24 to 27 points a game. The Rams are going to win a lot of games.

I couldn't have done a better job myself.

Well I see possibly THREE new QB's ... possibly MORE than one staring RB ... (Gurley and Mason stick ... but competition is thick behind them ...Pead, Cunnigham, Brown, Reynolds, etc ...) Maybe MORE than 6 OL .. but I did forget the additions of both Weinke and Garcia .... even more "unknown" added to the offense as a whole! :)

My whole issue with the offense is the unknown. We really can't have an idea of how good or bad they'll be. The reason for optimism is that we don't know if they'll be bad. The reason for pessimism is we don't know if they'll be good.

One thing in our favor, I think there's a pretty good chance the defense will be very good. The offense shouldn't have to get in a shoot out. They shouldn't have to abandon the game plan by halftime with this defense.

One of the biggest offensive overhauls I've seen from any team in recent memory.

Gotta give them credit, they found the problem and attacked it relentlessly. If the offense doesn't get fixed this year, it's certainly not for lack of trying.

Very good point and very quietly this O has gotten big. Very. Big. Dudes. WR, TE, OL, RB, and even QB.

This is potentially an imposing offense that could wear down defenses in the run game and the passing game.

Complete Rebuilds take time.

The pieces are all coming together now.

It's going to be a crap shoot as to what finally emerges as an offense, that's for certain. Personally, I can't shake the feeling that the O will experience growing pains initially and potentially not reach its stride until mid season. On the other hand, they may come out on fire "and shock the world." Ultimately, I'm worried about the "I" word, especially with an inexperienced OL.

It IS going to be an interesting season indeed.

Also, could a true Fullback finally be incorporated into the offense? They added one of those too. Some might argue that Tavon was added too, since he was used so poorly last year.

I think the running game will show first in preseason, it's gonna be nasty. The passing game will improve week to week and should be solid by the opener.

Seattle game will be a defensive slugfest, but this offense should show in the first half of the season that they're significantly improved.

That's my expectation at least.

One other reason for optimism might be "that offense can't be worse, can it?"
