I didn't even know this being away from Las Cruces since 2020 but NMSU is in the Conference USA now!
View attachment 60900

That's good because the Aggies only been good at basketball since the early 2000's and they have win their old division to even sniff the March madness tourney and it's always a placement as a 16 seed and you face a #1 every time. Anyways, they just had a huge scandal so they fucked for players etc. for a while longer now anyways.

As forFootball:
Football. The Aggies won the Sun Bowl in 1959 and 1960 under coach Warren B. Woodson and continued to do well until he was let go in 1967. Since then the Aggies have had only 4 winning seasons and 2 conference championships in 1976 and 1978.

Nothing else! lol

I will say as for my Freshman Season we stomped #22 Arizona States ass! (1999) About the only time I know of the Aggies every doing such a thing! lol

I tried to bring up a Youtube vid but they only have one and it was the but only had the Utah State game for 4 minutes. Anyways one of these centuries I'll have to convert some of those vids and scan some pics showing a few games versus Urlacher.

Anyways, dude it's crazy asf! And I'm glad that Notre Dame got told to stfu! lol I get tired of their big headed bullshit!

It seems Iowa State is a natural fit and with them peaking I'm surprised they haven't made a move yet. Any chance the Mountain West absorbs the rest of the the Pac 10?

Hey good to know! lol It's weird, I always run into another Alumni in weird ass places, I was in South America last Dec. and ran into another Alum! lol
Kinda cool seeing UTEP and NMSU in the same confrence

not sure what will happened to the rest of the Pac 12 schools , Stanford and Cal are trying to get into the ACC , last week the ACC voted and they came up short , but sounds like thier trying again , and my get the votes needed

Oregon St and Washington St will probably then end up in the Mountain West

but it's still in the probably stage , things could still change

like the College Football playoffs

their going to 12 team playoff , the way it did work , the top 6 rated confrence champions got automatic births , with 6 atlarge births , highest rated teams that are left regardless , how they endup are also in

but now , their minus one Power 5 confrence , so does that mean two G5 confrence champions will make the playoffs , probably not , so I'm guess somethings gonna change

Sounds like the Big Ten and the SEC just want to keep it simple , the top 12 highest rated teams are in , simple

but thier still alot that want confrence champions to get in as well , regardless of ranking

like last year in the Big 12 , 9-3 Kansas State beat 11-0 TCU in the Championship game , so Kansas State would have went to the playoffs

I would probably just like the to see the top 12 teams get it , keep it simple

but , who knows what they'll end up doing

still don't know whats going to happen to the 4 schools , Stanford and Cal are still trying to get into the ACC
they said they'd even join for free , no TV media rights money , no nothing , just let us in...............please :crying:

rumor was that the ACC was going to vote Friday , but nothing came of it .............yet

last I heard , They didn't have enought votes to get it , but are still working on it

guess we'll just have to keep waiting to see what happens the the Pac 4

P.S.

I think the PAC12 continues on by simply adding a couple of new schools like SDSU and maybe Fresno State and or Boise State. I think the PAC 12 will become the PAC 14 it's own mega conference with both LA schools likely to suffer in the long term. When they fall into the middling rankings back east their own programs will suffer. Los Angeles is fickle that way.

IMO sooner or later the mega conferences are going to get hit by a lawsuit claiming they are predatory cartels and they will be broken up again. Regardless, it's all part of the obvious East coast college football bias. There will always be a market for regional conferences. College fans love regional rivalries. UCLA being a state funded university could be forced back at some point. Their move was finally approved after the appropriate number of regents got their cut of the pie. Remember this move was driven by the media giants. It also, comes with stipulations, but also will forever be subject to the whims of the Board of Regents. USC has always tried to be the best team money can buy. My step sister was a classmate of Charlie White in high school and he was flunking out at San Fernando High but got a scholarship and graduated from USC?

The bottom line is that sooner or later UCLA will probably be forced back. Their problem has always been poor marketing. Returning to LA would leave them the sole major collegiate team in the LA metro area. If SDSU makes the move they will expand their marketing into the south OC area, and that will start by heavily scouting OC football programs with leverage they never had before. That's why I think SDSU will make the move to the PAC 12 and Fresno is a natural addition as they will add rivalries with the Bay Area teams.

It's why I don't really follow college football except for U of Washington. Oregon and Washington will dominate the PAC 12 or whatever name they will go by. The conference will simply rebrand itself and survive. The mythical national title is a marketing joke created to make college football a mega billion dollar industry fueled by gambling.

When the Chargers were courted by Vegas, people laughed at me when I said Spanos would be a fool to pass it up. People said the NFL would never allow a team to play in the city because of gambling. I told them the NFL was already promoting gambling with their not so tacit support for fantasy football. Turns out Spanos was a fool which is no surprise.

People forget that most of the people in SoCal are from somewhere else or went to school somewhere else. I was born and raised in LA but went to CSUN (before it changed it's name) and did graduate work at UW. So I've always followed the Huskie program. I would bet the story is the same for most on this board. IMO Fresno and SDSU would be solid additions as both have raised their program profiles over the past several years.

The indications are that SMU, Memphis, Tulane, and USF will join the Pac-12 in 2024. In 2025, San Diego State, Boise State, Colorado State, and Fresno State would leave the MWC to join the Pac-12 which will grow to it's own mega conference with probably 3 divisions.

It is an embarrassment and shame that a once mighty conference at the top of the pac here out west was brought to its knees by piss-poor management. The effects will get more and more complicated as time passes.

Wow! Figured it wouldn't be to far out. I'm curious asf who will become the 5th P5 conference? I am fantasying about it being Conference USA but more than likely the Mountain West? Reminds me of when the WAC feel apart by 2013.

Yes sir
I'm guessing there won't be another P5 confrence

they'll become the P4

Whatever Oregon State and Washington State end up doing , I've heard that they could just join the Mountain West , but , I've also heard they would like to rebuild the Pac 12, with mostly Mountain West teams

but either way , I think it's highly unlikely , how ever the new confrence pans out , it will receive P5 status

Washingto State and Oregon State do get a two year grace period though , so actually , those two schools could still play in the Pac 12 in 2024 , they would be the only two schools in the confrence , but they could do it , would have to fill in alot of non confrence games though

there has been nothing offical said about what will end up as Power Confrences , but my guess , it'll just be the four

Big Ten
Big 12
ACC
SEC

and everyone else

It's sad for the Pac 12 but it's simple logistics. In the Eastern and Central time zone you have roughly 48% and 29% of the population. Leaving about 20% in the Pac 12's area. There just isn't the TV eyes or the advertising dollars to compete monetarily. And with College sports being such big business it all comes down to money. Add to that not many people will stay up later on the East coast to watch the Pac 12.
JFYI I really appreciate your sports knowledge, but your business acumen is underrated or because this is a Ram forum I don't get to read enough of it.

That is it in a nutshell with the PAC 12, I have thought for years, why doesn't the big 10 reach out to the likes of USC/UCLA and others to form a more perfect union and thus they finally did. As soon as that was done, I stated, Oregon & Washington next and boom, it happened.

I cannot wait to head to Columbus and watch some of these great games as new rivalries will be born plus maybe it will force some of the other Schools like Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska & Wisconsin to step up their game.

Man I am pretty proud of them, started watching after halftime and couldn’t believe it! :explode1:

This win could potentially help the program immensely, we’ll see what the new AD will do after the last one got fired.

One thing about Iowa Football

their never pretty ,

and we can say all we want about Kirk Ferentz

and there has been ALOT of talk this year ,

but since 2001 , Kirk Ferentz has only had two losing seasons

I don't care what people say .............I'll take that..................lol

I'm well into my 50's now , and I've only known two head coaches , the legendary Hayden Fry , and Kirk Ferentz ,

we may not have any national championships , but they've have won ALOT of games , and probably one of the most consistent teams over the last 40 years

For myself the failure of the PAC-12 is a damn shame. Not surprised by it though. Just glad I don't live out that way any longer.
