Vernon Davis heads to free agency with no postseason stats

Tight end Vernon Davis finally won a ring. But his contributions to the effort were minimal.

Traded to the Broncos from the 49ers in the last year of his contract, Davis caught no passes in three postseason games. He also had no receptions in a Week 17 win that clinched the top seed in the AFC. His last catch came on December 20 at Pittsburgh, when Davis had one reception for five yards.

For whatever reason, things never clicked between Davis and Peyton Manning, especially after Manning’s return to the lineup in Week 17. And so Davis, who said after being traded that he’d been dreaming of playing with Peyton since leaving college, ended up doing nothing with Peyton in crunch time of the 2015 season.

It suggests there’s a potentially great untold story regarding why Davis and Manning never connected. Maybe at some point that story will surface, especially as Davis tries to persuade another team to sign him to a contract worth something more than the veteran minimum.

Intriguing.
The guy has had a few good seasons.
I would certainly bring him in for a look.

Similar thing happened with Jimmy Graham(29 yrs old) in Seattle. He wasn't a non-factor like V.Davis, but certainly a letdown as far as a blockbuster trade for an elite TE.
Graham with the Saints and Brees...
2012
85 rec 982 yds 9 TD
2013
86 rec 1,215 yds 16 TD
2014
85 rec 889 yds 10 TD

11 games(before the injury) with R.Wilson...
48 rec 605 yds 2 TD

Absolutely not. His hands are worse then Cooks. He got dropped down to second string behind OWEN DANIELS. Denver fans hated the guy. Just please no.

Vernon Davis...who is 32 yrs old now btw, hasn't played a full season in 2 years. He's logged 2 TD's in the last 3 seasons. It may be less about chemistry and more about a player being done.

I think he could still be serviceable in our offense.

Well Manning didnt do much to earn his ring either, other than playing only half the season and almost finishing with the league lead for ints. But the Rams need to build through the draft, hit free agency home runs with players in their prime still as Denver did for their defense.

Yeah I think Vernon is about done. Just has nothing left in the tank.

If he can't beat out Owen Daniels at this point in his career... No thanks.

No thanks on Vernon Davis.

Besides, he still has that Niner stink on him. Lol.

Nope, he's been done for years. And on top of being done he's never exactly been a team player or a hard worker even during his semi-good years.

Absolutely, let's sign Vermin Davis, Krapperdouche, Scabtree, Boldin, hell even Terrell Owens and Jeff Garcia and all the ex-Whiner feces we can, and have a big fat smile on our face rooting for them.

Pretty sure Antonio Gates has more left in him than Vernon Davis.
