Do you guys remember this play? I was complaining that it wasn't even a foul, in fact the broadcast team said the same thing and noted Suh basically just kindly laid him down, just happening to grab him in a spot that horsecollars occur.

F'd up that they laid on a fine. What message are they sending exactly? I find it baffling.

The NFL has fined Ndamukong Suh $20,054 for a penalty he drew from a horse collar tackle last Sunday against the Detroit Lions, a source confirmed to ESPN.

That is ridiculous! It didn’t even deserve a flag.

Roger Goodell is the biggest POS ive ever seen. Cant wait until theres a new commish. Offensive players never get fines its only defensive players getting fined just doing their job. Its getting ridiculous. If the Rams weren’t a good team right now I would stop watching the NFL.

I think he can afford it.

The announcers stated something more along the lines that the rules should be changed. Suh didn't yang him down with the horse collar. More like it was incidental that he grabbed inside his pads.

I'm pretty sure the only reason Suh got fined was that when a horse collar tackle (personal foul) is committed it's an automatic fine. I could be wrong but I'm not.

When I read the post heading 'SUH Fined' I thought it was for the late hit call on Stafford last week. I didn't necessarily agree with the horse collar call but the late hit on Stafford was obvious. I would prefer Suh to be able to avoid obvious late hits but if he can't easily flip the switch...keep on rocking and pass the hat (I'll contribute towards paying the fine)!! We want more of Suh - not less!!

This should be a fine how the current rules are written. Not saying i agree with said rules but how they are stated what a horse collar is i can see why they threw a flag and fined it.

Hate the fucking pansy NFL now. Some new rules that they have in place, okay fine, but others are just plain absurd.

I’m with flv on this one... all horse collar tackles should be fined. Period. It needs to get out of the game.

That horse collar tackle on Kupp pissed me off...

Suh's horse collar looked incidental. The one on Kupp looked intentional. Kupp was going out of bounds. It wasn't even a necessary tackle. Such was in the process of the tackle and didn't slam or jerk the guy hard. Two different plays IMO.

I agree that Suh's was unintentional, but so was Stewart's. Kupp is running up the sideline not going out of bounds, blockers were set so when Kupp got past the edge defender (Stewart) he'd have a clear lane for another 15+ yards. Stewart is being blocked by Higbee and when Kupp gets past Stewart he dives for him, imo out of desperation not intention to harm. Kupp was even trying to stiff arm Stewart to get by him, he wouldn't do that if he was just trying to get out of bounds. If Kupp was going out of bounds he do it before getting to a defender not after. An unfortunate play but it wasn't intentional.

How, in live time action, can a ref decide between unintentional and intentional? Plus, where can they draw the line in an instant? Answer to both is, they can't. So it is what it is, like it or not. It's the rule not the referee.

I agree with everything you said, but, it won't matter.
The Commish works for the owners. The owners had plenty of his work history before they recently resigned him to a massive contract extension.
This is the kind of Commish they want, clearly.
Pathetic.
