Apparently in town and taking a physical. Now, I'm typically against guys with knee injuries since well, this is the Rams. However, I'd be more than willing to take a flier on Smith for one or two years.
That type of injury takes a while to come back from. He probably rushed back from it to play for the Iggles last year, but just take a look at Laurent Robinson. Two years removed from his knee injury and he lit the goddamn world on fire in Dallas. I'd say Smith>Robinson. If it's a cheap 'prove it' contract. I'd be happy to kick the tires.

The St. Louis Rams could be close to signing (New York Giants) Steve Smith, if the latest NFL rumors are any indication: They've reportedly given Smith a physical. For the injury-prone 27-year-old the Rams, who don't have any sure things in their receiving corps for 2012, could be an ideal fit, and for the Rams he'll be a cheap gamble. Smith, who caught 107 balls for 1220 yards and seven touchdowns in his only full season back in 2009, caught just 11 balls for 124 yards in a 2011 stint with the Philadelphia Eagles.

One potential stumbling block: The Rams already have a potential star with a serious knee problem in the rotation—Danario Alexander, who caught 26 balls for 431 yards and two touchdowns. It's hard to imagine Smith pipping Alexander, but it's even harder to imagine both of them staying healthy for a full season.

If he is the Laurent Robinson for the Rams in 2012, I would be ecstatic.
