It’s been said so many times but the evidence was absolutely in-your-face obvious in that Browns game.

AD is being held and sometimes choked, often blatantly, on almost every play. Ray Charles could see these fouls yet rarely is a flag thrown.

Meanwhile, refs are throwing flags on ticky tack and sometimes phantom fouls right and left.

Where is the balance? The fairness?

I sometimes wonder how AD keeps bringing it in the face of such an obvious double standard.

This has GOTTA be coming down from the league office because they don’t want to slow down the game.

It was making me crazy while the game was still close, which it was for about 56 minutes. Sigh…

Well... the flag was firmly planted in the packet against the Chiefs receiver, while getting mugged at Green Bay.

It annoys the hell out of me when our OL gets called for holding and they allow teams to hold AD on almost every play. The only time AD isn't held is when he beats the OL so quick they don't get a chance to hold him. But the arm around his neck/ throat should be called every time.

A perfect example is how Havenstein did that choke hold move on the Browns DE yesterday that they called. How many times have we seen Olinemen do that to Donald with no call?

I recall one game in the rams SB season against Arizona where they actually were calling that specific holding and I think they called on one of their Tackles that did it 4 or 5 times in one game against AD. Since then it's been very inconsistent to say the least.

It INFURIATES me. When they don't call blatant holds on AD, I always say "that's fine as long as they don't call us for holding".

I would love to see a +/- for holding penalties for each time. I know that better OLs will generally hold less, but I'm a firm believer that there is holding on every play and there's not many penalties that impact the game as much......certainly not that get called as frequently.

If they called holding every time AD was on the field, it would slow the game down to seven hours, fifty minutes, and thirty-three seconds; there would be a flag or a QB sack on every play.

Not after the first 5, when the opposing coach either sits dude down or tells him he loses 100K for each holding call. They'd have to just roll MORE coverage to him, allowing the other defenders to eat.

I'm sure the league is against it, especially since scoring is down even more this season, but personally I appreciate AD sacks more than a 10 yard out while watching him get bear hugged :)

As soon as I saw that flag, I was pissed.

I immediately told my wife, “This happens on almost every play against AD”!

You want answers? Start looking at the sites that keep stats on the ref crews. It becomes quickly apparent that there is no oversight or direction from the NFL. Even just the difference in types of calls made by crews gets pretty ridiculous. Like some crews average like 3-4 offensive holding calls a game while some may have like 5 all year. But they will call illegal contact or something like 40 times. Ref crews greatly effect the over/under. Brad kemps crew famously hit the under for something like 2 years straight.

It's really frustrating. AD is so quick sometimes it's hard to even see all the holds until a replay, but it's the refs' job to.

The league ought to send a memo to the other 31 teams.

"Donald is held so much we can't throw the flag every time and bring the game in under 4 hours. What we've instructed the officials to do is only throw the flag on third down. We expect the holding to subside".

But of course they can't do that. They've changed the rules to prevent QB injuries and holding Donald helps in that endeavor.

I'm not asking that holding be called on every play, but the egregious holds that result in a QB escaping the pocket and running for a 1st down on 3rd and long should be called regardless of which team is holding.
