September? We got FA and the draft - both gonna be exciting for Ram fans. The last pieces will be added to next year’s Super Bowl champs — The LA Rams!

Yeah Staffords got the ring, Goff won a WC game......throw a parade.

Throw a parade?

Because I can acknowledge what Goff just achieved?

For some reason people here find it impossible to give Goff his due. The Rams already won a superbowl with Stafford who gave probably the best playoff qb football the nfl has seen.

There's no need for all the insecurity seen here about Goff leading the Lions for the win over the Rams.

You are the only one hand wringing over either QB.... WTF. Where are all of these people downplaying Goff's performance anyway?

Also, the Rams lost by 1 point.....ONE. Stafford had 2 TD passes to Goff's 1....but we're mad because they came from OUTSIDE the RedZone?? !! Who gives a fuck where on the field you score from as long as you score??

I'm not sure when and if I'll get over this game. I just know it ain't anytime soon.
  • If we played the 2nd half D in the first half? (just watch how TB plays D on Goff next week)
  • If we RAN THE BALL 1st and goal?
  • If we used ANY of the 1000 options other than fade for TDs?
  • If we had ANY other referees other than the misfits who call a bogus hold on our OL, while ignoring Stafford roughings and Puka holdings?
I was happy just to get to the playoffs when I thought we'd be lucky to get 7 wins this season. But losing in this way pisses me right off.

So proud of our team though. High hopes for next year.

The 2001 SB was worse, IMO. I still haven't gotten over that one.

Don't think anyone here is downplaying Goff's achievement. Agree that it's possible to acknowledge that achievement without having to compare it to Stafford's play.

That's not how your post came across, however.

Doesn't matter how it gets there. Just get it in there. Goff was 3 of 3, Stafford was 0 of 3.

Stafford had two passing TD's to Goff's one since you're comparing. How you say things matters, and you generally get responses in direct proportion to what you post.

The job of the qb is to get the ball in the endzone. Doesn't matter how it gets there. Just get it in there. Goff was 3 of 3, Stafford was 0 of 3. We can blame McVay's crappy play calling inside the redzone all we want but ultimately it comes down to the qb making the plays.

So many people in here down playing what goff just achieved. This loser team hasn't won a playoff game for over 30 years. Stafford was there for over a decade and couldn't get it done. Now that goff has gone in there and done it people are talking about style points? Funny.

.
Goff is a good QB now. Stafford is better. Lions won the game. You like Jourdan? How about, "multiple things can be true at once."

Okay. And I quoted you saying it doesn't matter how it gets there, just that it does. Kind of nullifies your point, yes?

But almost everyone acknowledges that the difference in the game was the Rams inability to punch it in from their 3 trips to the redzone.

I've never once said Goff was a better qb than Stafford.

I agree with all the points above .. low expectations ... thrilled with the season ... very disappointed in the loss.

On the holding call, I still have not seen an opposite angle; and can't tell if it was a bad call.

Don't know if the following will have any impact on your thought about the holding call but I found Havenstein's comments interesting. He did a zoom interview today, and it was the first question asked.

Havenstein took full responsibility, and did not suggest in any way that he thought it was a bad call.
Wouldn't expect him to criticize the refs but he could have couched his reply to suggest it was a borderline.

His exact quotes were as follows:
"100% my fault. I can't do that.
Will think about that one for a while.
It was just a mistake in crunch time that can't happen. Unfortunately, it did.
Hurt the Team because of it. I am going to think about that one for awhile."

This was worse IMO. The Rams truly did deserve to win this game in my view. In 2001, I thought the Patriots neutralized the Rams pretty effectively. Was that due to cheating and/or illegal play? Up for debate. As a Rams fan, I'd certainly say yes! But it's "any given Sunday". Unlike with this Wild Card round, I didn't leave the 2001 Super Bowl feeling like the Rams outplayed their opponent and deserved a better outcome only to be screwed by several questionable calls and non-calls from the refs.

To be completely honest, I think a lot of Rams fans had some degree of entitlement in 2001, thinking that the team deserved the win because of how stacked that roster was and how they were setting the league on fire. So when they lost, fans had trouble accepting any reason other than cheating could be the answer. I am not saying the Pats did not cheat. I think they did. And the NFL's actions after the fact I think underscore it. But I do think that some entitlement was out there.

I Don't disagree with that, either.
Always been a Goff fan and still am. I'm happy for him and the Lions they are advancing in the playoffs and wish them the best going forward. Just think your post would have gone over better without the comparison to Stafford's red zone stats.

Thanks for posting this. It actually makes me feel better. They broke down the play afterwards on one of the postgame shows and the analyst said he was actually allowed to hold in the way he did due to the arm swing technique of the defender (paraphrasing).

If that was BS, then it was a deserved penalty.
