Rams coach Jeff Fisher revealed Monday that C Scott Wells will go on injured reserve with a fractured foot.

It's a nightmare situation after St. Louis also lost LT Rodger Saffold (neck) indefinitely in the opener. Signed to a $24 million deal in the offseason, Wells was expected to spark the Rams' interior line as a plus run blocker and pass protector. The Rams will now turn to career backup Rob Turner at center. Steven Jackson managed just 53 yards on 21 carries in Week 1, and he may continue to struggle to find running lanes the rest of the way

Is Shelley Smith healthy? What's the deal with him? Can he at least dress for the next game?

*Edit*

Apparently they're using a new IR rule, so Wells will be back week 8. He's on IR till week 6, but he cannot return to the 53 till week 8. I believe he'll be able to practice though, not sure how that works. Saffold I guess just has a strain, albeit a significant one, so he's not gone for the year either.

Yeah, somewhat of a relief for sure. The new IR rule is a good change.

I'm happy that Turner is with us and that he got plenty of work in the Pre-Season.

Means Watkins has to take his spot though when he moves over. :neh:

Yup, right around the age where nagging little injuries begin to occur.

Ehh the team was without him for the entire 2nd half. Almost beat 'em w/o him.

Get some depth tho.

Not Saffold.

We are now literally going to have two of the bottom tackles in the league last year protecting Sam.

My concerns turned into my nightmare. I hope Saffold is back soon.

It's hard to put a value on Wells now, but TG for Turner.

You know what Paul Boudreau has to say to that? Challenge accepted.
